Hi Group, Here is my dead end. I am looking for the parents of two brothers James S. and John Thomas Temple. Their particulars are as follows: James S. Temple, born May 22, 1839, North Carolina. Died December 1894 in Hardin, Calhoun County, Illinois. John Thomas Temple, born June 2, 1842 in North Carolina or Lincoln County Missouri, died April 1916 in Hardin, Calhoun County Illinois. The story of these Temples comes primarily from an obituary which I have for John T. Temple. This obituary says he was born near Raleigh, North Carolina, but several censuses state he was born in Missouri. The obituary goes on to say "while but a small child he was brought, with one sister and two brothers to Lincoln county, Missouri. Shortly after their arival in Missouri, the mother and sister died and the younger brother drowned a little later. In 1848 his father left the subject of this sketch and his only remaining brother, James S. Temple, with the family of a Pennsylvania German .... Of his father nothing was ever heard from the time he left Missouri for the ovberland trip across the continent." The obit claims that their parents were named John T. and Jane Temple, I have been unable to substantiate this as far as placing people with these names in North Carolina.
