Looking for any information on Humphrey TEMPLE who married Susannah Walker daughter of Joseph WALKER and Ann ARNOLD. They apparently had at least one daughter, Mary Temple who married Hezekiah MCLELLAND . Their daughter, Martha Cole McLelland who married John William SHACKFORD son of Samuel Shackford and Nancy Buzzell. Source of this information is from Cox, Virginia D. and Willie T. Weathers, Old Houses of King and Queen County, Virginia, (King and Queen Historical Society, 1973). "In the late eighteenth century Orange Grove was known as Old Place.... Old Place belonged to the Tunstalls at the end of the eighteenth century, and was sold in 1796 to Humphrey Temple of Chatham Hill and his wife Susannah Walker. From then it passed to their daughter Mary, wife of Hezekiah McLelland.... The McLelland's daughter Martha married the Reverend John Shackford in 1846, and spent her life in this home, which she and her husband renamed Orange Grove....He was also a circuit rider [Methodist circuit---mentioned earlier in the passage], and had come to King and Queen from Dover, New Hampshire...." I'm researching the SHACKFORD family line in a hunt for a great grandfather and am looking for any verification of this information and of course others who are looking for infomation on this line. Would like to be able to add any birth dates so I can obtain vital records for these families.
