Greetings Park, Sorry to be a pest on this matter of John Temple, but I have noticed something confusing on the date of his death. In March after the big update was done, I found my John Temple (s/o William Wilson)listed with wife and family for the first time. YEA! You had his place of death as Bowdoinham, Maine and I always thought that was correct, but never had seen a date. Over the weekend, after our correspondence, I went to the site again and noticed that you had his death place as Wisconsin. Do you remember why the change? Did the submitter change their information? I really think Maine is correct as I have never found any indication that John came to Wisconsin. The family is not on any census records (in Oconto County) until 1860 and the earliest date for any family members mentioned is a daughter getting married in 1856 and a son purchasing land in 1856. John is also not buried in the Oconto Falls Cemetery...his wife's grave is alone (not that that proves anything). Anyway, I was wondering do you keep track of who submitted what information and do you ever put researchers in contact with one another. Is so, I would appreciate knowing how to contact the person who sent in the information on John Temple b. 8/30/1801 in Bowdoin, ME if possible. And as always, thanks for your time. I just wish I could find all my ancestors on such a wonderful site as yours. Take Care, Sandy Perdue
Greetings fellow Temple researchers, I am looking for any information on JOHN TEMPLE b. 8/30/1801 in Bowdoin, ME; d. 8/1/1844 Bowdoin, ME. He was the son of WILLIAM WILSON TEMPLE and MINDWELL SMALL. He married CLARISSA L. WEBB and they had 9 children. 1. Elizabeth W. 2. Rachel H. 3. George Webb 4. John 5. Albert 6. Daniel Peter 7. Joshua W. 8. Clarissa A. 9. Charles W. Sometime in the mid 1850's, Clarissa and her children moved to Oconto County in Wisconsin. Does anyone know how John died or why the family moved to Wisconsin. Thanks and great hunting! Sandra Perdue
Park, I believe this may be Clinton, son of John # 178 of Rise of the Temples. The time and place are right. John's wife was Julia Foster not Sarah. What do you think? I am interested in this person as he died in MI. What else do you have on him? Ralph

The response to my "TEMPLEs in the Census" has been overwhelming. Thank you to all that responded. I guess I hadn't prepared for such a wonderful response, but I want to get the ball rolling. I will attach my 1850 census Microsoft Excel file by separate message to each of you who responded so you can see what I am doing. For those who want to participate and don't have Excel I can either try to convert it to something you can use or send a form by regular mail. I am open for suggestions because I am not very proficient at attaching and receiving files. Please let me know if any of you receive this form. Any suggestions as to what you want to include in the report are welcome. I want to eventually make this available to everyone so we all can see the progress and use it to our individual benefit. As I said, all suggestions are welcome. Ralph Temple
This message is in reply to Joannes recent message about pooling resources from different areas of the country. I would like to share with you my project, and maybe some of you would be interested in helping. My interest is in the federal census. I have collected indexes from various sources of all the Temples I could find. Even though some were missed, I do have a list of most Temples 1790 to 1860. I probably have about half of the 1870 and 1880 census and only a few of the 1900 to 1920 census. These indexes usually show the State, County, Town or Township and the page # where the person can be found on the census. Here is my plan. I have developed a form and have been taking the information from the rolls of microfilm at the library and entering the information into my Microsoft Excel files. I look up the page number and fill in the blanks. 1. From 1790 to 1840 I simply show the numbers 2. from 1850 to 1920 I show all family members and include most available information. 3. starting in 1870 a column exists which indicate a foreign born parent. This is important in locating new branches. My plan is to fill in the blanks, give each a reference number and try to identify each person. I think this will be a valuable resource for Temple researchers. Anyone interested? If so just E mail me and Ill answer any questions you may have. You can start sending anything you have in any form you desire. The recent post on the 1880 TX census was a good example of what Im looking for. Thanks. Ralph L. Temple
