    3. Newfoundland is Canada's eastern-most province and it has a population of approx. 532,000 people. The province is made up of two parts - the island of Newfoundland and a mainland section called Labrador. It has a land area of 405,720 sq. km. - if it was a state of the US it would rank fourth in size behind Alaska, Texas, and California. There have been Taylors in Newfoundland since at least 1675 when a Thomas Taylor lived in Old Perlican, Newfoundland. An early census (1677) of Harbour Grace listed a Laurence Taylor as having "no wife, 1 son, 1 male servant, 1 boat, 1 fish room, 200 fish in his boat". Barbara Parsons Clancy (my grandmother was a Taylor from Carbonear, Newfoundland)
