My 4th great-grandfather was William ROE (sometimes spelled ROWE or ROW), married to Anna TAYLOR, March 5, 1818. I have a copy of a certificate of this. Beyond this, the only information I have about them is that William came to Wells Twp., Oh., about 1800, from Maryland or Virginia. William died in 1849, when the steamboat Virginia exploded, headed "to Steubenville, just as it reached Wellsburgh six miles from Rush Run where the explosion took place" (from The Daily Wheeling Gazette, April 2, 1849, p. 2). Anna TAYLOR was born app. 1800 and was in the 1860 census, but not sure after that, so I don't know her date of death.
