DANIEL Taylor (1761-1834) was a son (the third child and second son) of James Taylor (1731-1815) and Ann Owen (1738-1814). Daniel was born in Cumberland Co VA and served in the Revolution. He married Jane Rowland in Henry Co VA in 1780 and they migrated to Grainger Co TN in 1795. Daniel's older brother GEORGE Taylor (1759-1843) left Henry Co VA after the Revolution, living in Oglethorpe GA, Jackson Co GA (where he served as Clerk of the Superior Court 1796-1806), Franklin Co TN, settling in Madison Co AL where he died. My published family history, Taylor and Tates of the South, documents this family carefully. It is 986 pages, hardcover, 150 photographs and documents, full name index. Ann, Do you have a Melinda Taylor b.ca 1815 from Grainger Co in your records. She married my gg/gf Henry Soard around 1835 but I have never found her parents. Two of her three daughters in 1880 census indicate Melinda was born in VA, the third daughter said TN.
