    3. I'd say that's a bit narrow minded on your part I'm afraid to say!! If it weren't for the "Frenchmen" the Pacific northwest would have never been charted by Lewis and Clark, St. Louis is predominantly based on a French Settlement, St Genevieve and other towns along the Mississippi River are French settlements, might I remind you...the forefathers along with Irishmen, Scotsmen, Englishmen...hmmm..sounds like they might be from other countries besides AMERICA....is what our foundations are built on....I am native American...but thoughout my lineage there is sprinkled a bit of Taylor Quaker from VA....now where did they come from before VA? Across the Atlantic Ocean I am sure....My Taylor Grandfather married a French(oh my. from Illinois, no less!) woman whose lineage can be traced back to Canada and then to France...So... Before you start becoming predjudice....take a closer look at your own lineage...there might be a "frenchman or french woman" in your tree that you don't know about!!!! ----- Original Message ----- From: "RON & LISA TAYLOR" <TAYFAM@BACKROADS.NET> To: <TAYLOR-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, July 18, 2002 3:36 AM Subject: [TAYLOR] 1812 INDICTMENT OF ZACHERY TAYLOR > IN THE WAR OF 1812, 2,260 AMERICANS DIED. 3. IF YOU CAREFULLY LAY A SMALL NEEDLE ON TOP OF COLD WATER, IT WILL FLOAT. THE HEAD OF THE NEEDLE WILL POINT NORTH. FROM THE POINT OF THE NEEDLE, WALK TO THE LEFT AT 90 DEGREES AND VIOLA, THE PACIFIC OCEAN. I REALLY BELIEVE LEWIS AND CLARK WOULD HAVE FOUND THE PACIFIC OCEAN WITHOUT FRENCH GUIDES. DID GOD CREATE THE NATIVE AMERICANS IN AMERICA? HOW ABOUT ASIA AND THE LAND OR ICE BRIDGE ACROSS ALASKA? SO YOUR CLAIM IS TO AMERICA IS ONLY BASED ON TIME SPAN DIFFERENCES. GOD GAVE ISRAEL TO THE JEWS AND IRELAND TO GAODHAL GLAS, ALL THE REST OF US ARE PRETTY MUCH ON OUR OWN. A TRUE MILITARY OFFICER WOULD HAVE ROUGHED UP ANY NATIONALITY TO SAVE SOME OF HIS MEN. IF NOT, MOST SOLDIERS WOULDN'T WANT TO SERVE UNDER HIM. I HAVE TWO WORDS IN RESPONSE TO MY POSSIBLY HAVING FRENCH ANCESTORS:SCOTCH-IRISH. AND TRUE TO THE MANOR BORN. J.R.
