Hi! I am new to your list and wish to list members of my Taylor family that I am researching. My g-grandfather was Peter Fletcher TAYLOR (born 1861 Wick, Caithness) - the son of Peter TAYLOR and Ann FLETCHER. He married Helen DONALD in 1885 in Aberdeen. All of Peter and Helen's children were born in Australia. My gg-grandparents were Peter TAYLOR and Ann FLETCHER who married in 1857 at Wick, Caithness. They had children - Margaret (born 1858 Wick); Peter Fletcher (born 1861 Wick); and Ann (born 1862 Aberdeen). My gg-grandfather was born about 1835 in Aberdeen - the son of Peter TAYLOR and Catherine PETRIE (married 1817). At this stage I have not been able to locate any other siblings - but I am sure that he would surely have had some considering the time between when his parents married and he was born. I know nothing of my ggg-grandfather Peter TAYLOR (married 1817) other than this snippet of information. I recently applied for the baptism of my gggrandfather (Helen DONALD's father) and received a page from `Baptisms for the Dead in St George Temple'. There were many Taylors `baptised' on this day - many TAYLOR; JACKSON (I have not come across this name in our research todate); and DONALD family members - all baptised by proxy in the name of Thomas Forsyth. I have not come across this name either in my research. All entries were for male relatives - as I was told that only a male could stand in for a male etc. Some of the Taylor's on this `baptism' record were listed as from `Of Glasgow'; Campbelltown; Paisley; Largs; Perth; Old Monkland; Kinghorn and St Nicholas Aberdeen. From this information I would assume that my Taylor family were originally from the West Coast of Scotland. However all my information todate indicates they were on the East Coast. On the 1881 Census Peter and Ann, and two of their children Peter and Ann were living in Barony, Lanark at the time. If anyone is researching this family or can offer suggestions on where to continue my research next it would be most appreciated. Kate Brial (nee Taylor) - Australia
