    1. Re: [TAYLOR] TAYLOR FAMILY IN THE UK - Brighton?
    2. sue taylor
    3. Hi Irene, I wonder if our TAYLORs are connected as my 3xgt grandfather John TAYLOR may have been born in Brighton and baptised at St Nicholas, Brighton. I having been trying to find and confirm the birthplace of my 3xgtfather John TAYLOR, bc1811 for some time. On the BVRI2 (British Vital Records Index2) there is a John TAYLOR b Jan 1809 and baptised 25 Dec 1811 at St Nicholas, with the right parents of James and Mary TAYLOR. On the 1881 Census for Hutton Bonville, North Yorkshire he is listed as follows: 1881 Census: Birth Year <1811> Birthplace Brighton, Sussex, England Age 70 Occupation Parish Clerk & Cattle Dealer Marital Status M <Married> Dwelling Lovesomhill Census Place Hutton Bonville, York, England PRO RG11 Piece / Folio4868 / 71 Page Number 6 . On the other censuses his details variety - 1841 census John TAYLOR states his birthplace was Yorkshire. Yet on the 1851 & 1861 he states birthplace unknown, and then on the 1871 and 1881 he states it was Brighton, Sussex! John died 1883 at Lovesome Hill, Hutton Bonville, North Yorkshire. John's parents where James & Mary TAYLOR, James was a tailor and his mother was Yorkshire born. I am struggling to find any real proof of John's birth in Brighton and that of his (possible) sisters Elizabeth (nee TAYLOR) BRECKEN bc 1808 in Chatham, (London?);and a Mary TAYLOR baptised 30 Nov 1806, at St Nicholas, Brighton. On the BVRI2 Mary's parents are listed as James & Mary TAYLOR. Look forward to hearing from Irene - even if there isn't a connection between are Brighton TAYLORs it would help to know the details of yours so I can eliminate them from my lot.
