Hi Betty, so far all i know abt frederick taylor is he married 1797 in botetourt va, have marriage license, could not find that he ever lived there, cabell co va has him or a frederick on tax list 1810 1814. I have frederick 1818 in gallia co ohio till abt 1830. i can only account for Isaac, John, Sarah, Elizabeth, Nancy, have info on all these. 1850 he is living in anderson madison co indiana with daughter nancy taylor wright. he dies there 1858. dont know where he is buried. census say germany? i cant find a ship that he would of came in usa at the time period of 1768/70 when he would be born. up to the time of his marriage. there are at least 4 or 5 ch i can not put with him for certain. through family they always said we were irish so his father maybe be and they were going near around or in germany maybe at the time of his birth????????? lots of questions yet to find answers for. will share any info if you think we connect anywhere. as of yet i dont have a peter taylor from germany. in the isle of wight there is a frederick taylor ??? not sure but thought i saw a peter taylor there would have to check. dont know if this is mine or not age would be right for him. thanks for reply sorry i cant help at this time. judi

    3. Judi- Frederick is a name often used in Germany. If your Frederick Taylor was from Germany, the name would not have been Taylor there, it would have most probably been the equivalent of tailor (the occupation). I think that name is Schneider, but I don't know German, so I could be wrong about the actual name. Many foreign born people changed their names to the English one after being here for a while. My Hunter's were Jaeger's in Germany-that means hunter. Check out Henry Jones's books about people who came from the Palatinate areas of Germany. You could find your family there if they were German. Also check ship's lists for Schneider. Frederick most probably came into Pennsylvania when he arrived, so look there--and his family could have come much earlier-emigration form the Palatine areas started about 1709.
