    3. Anyone have connections to the following families?? Please contact me. Dr.| Stephen TAYLOR 1795-1864 from Sullivan Co TN (War 1812 Sullivan Co TN) was married in Mecklenburg Co NC 1826 to Mary "Polly" HARTGROVE, dau of Benjamin and Jane RANKIN HARTGROVE. He signed documents for the Hartgroves and bought items at the sale of Benjamin HARTGROVE's estate in Meckenburg Co NC. Believe Polly died in Sullivan Co TN (Not sure) but pension records say she died in 1843, Stephen m. Amna/Ann ALLISON buried Meigs Co TN and then he married Sarenah "Cyrene" HALE in McMinn Co TN, dau of Mark HALE and had more children...Cyrene was one of the first of three white women to Washington Territory. 1830-1840 in Sullivan Co TN, 1850-1860 Meigs Co TN, he died 1864 Meigs Co TN and about 1868 his family left TN and went West to TX, AR, OK and Washington State. His children by Polly Hartgrove married in Meigs Co TN to McDaniel, Autry, Sliger, Lillard, STEWART/STUART. I have felt he had to be connected to the TAYLORS in Mecklenburg but have found no proof. What was he doing in Mecklenburg to marry Polly, if he was not connected to someone there. How did he meet her??? The Hartgrove and Rankin Records do not have any additional information on him. My g-grandfather Richard Taylor,1831-1915 m. Mary Ann STEWART/STUART (Mary Ann buried Weeks Cem, Scott Co. AR) living in IT and his half sister living in WA State gave their father's birthplace as NY, however, I think it may have been their grandfather and Stephen could be the son of the Stephen TAYLOR who signed "Petition of the Inhabitants of the Western NC" Dec 1787. Researchers say that Jeremiah Taylor, 2 signatures from Stephen, was from NY. Would appreciate hearing from anyone with information or your thoughts and suggestions Gerene Kinney Lord
