I know the 1881 census for both Canada and the UK can be searched at the LDS site - http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=census/searc h_census.asp but I don't know if the 1871 is available? Perhaps on one of the paid subscription services?
