Hi, I saw your posting about your Taylor ancestors and I am wondering if you can match any of the Taylor family I have listed below? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Hope to hear from you, Glenda Schneider I have been given info suggesting William TAYLOR and Hannah HANDSOME were married Apr. 15, 1792, Blacktoft, Yorkshire. Their children were: Elizabeth b: 1794 William b: 1796 m: Mary Catherine Wright Abiah b: 1798 George b: 1799 Harper b: 1800 Ann b: 1802 Hannah b: 1806 Charles b: 1809 m: Jane Stabler John m: Rachel ? I only have info on the three brothers, William, Charles and John Taylor who emigrated to Canada from the Yorkshire area, England around 1832. They were accompanied by William's wife, Catherine WRIGHT along with at least two children, George and Robert. They arrived at Cobourg, Ontario along the north shore of Lake Ontario. Family lore suggests William as a young man in England was a stable-hand for Baron Wright in Yorkshire. The Baron's daughter, Catherine fell in love with William and they were married. The story goes that Catherine was disinherited by her family for marrying so lowly. The Taylors decided to emigrate to Canada to make a new life. William was a labourer all his life and they raised a family of two boys and one girl. It is reported that Catherine Wright Taylor was injured in an accident with a runaway team of horses and a democrate which was being driven by one of her sons. She was thrown out of the democrat, striking her head severely ending with an injury that resulted in her eyes becoming crossed for the rest of her life. She is reported to have been a very upright lady befitting her noble background.
