Don: I don't know if you are searching for Union or Confederate soldiers, but most large libraries have a 17 volume The Roster of Confederate Soldiers - 1861-1865, which lists name, unit and state in which enlisted. I am sure there is something comparable available for Union soldiers in large libraries, but my research has centered around Confederates. DK Lee
