I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as Adam HOLM of Delaware, Iowa which was taken at the W.F. Kilborn & Co. Studio in Cedar Rapids, IA. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Adam looking to be in his 30's or 40's at the time. Thanks to the help of the Delaware County Genealogical Society I believe that this is a photograph of the Rev. Adam HOLM b. Dec 1839 in Scotland and d. 31 July 1926 at Britt, IA. Adam HOLM married Anna J. TAYLOR b. Apr 1845 in PA, sometime in 1885 or early 1886. Rev. Adam HOLM was the principal of the Epworth Seminary in 1873 and became the Methodist Church minister in Delhi, IA from 1882-1885. In 1886 the HOLM family was living in Stacyville, IA which appears to be where their first child, Donald Alvord HOLM was born, 8 Nov 1886. The couple also had a daughter, Rachel B. HOLM born about 1892. Anna J. TAYLOR HOLM was visiting her sister Mrs. J.M. HOLBROOK in Manchester, IA in 1886 when it appeared in the local paper. Mrs. J.M. HOLBROOK died 9 Aug 1923 in Council Bluffs, IA noting that she was formally of Manchester, IA. In 1900 the HOLM Family was living in Fairfax, IA including Rev. HOLM's Mother-in-law, Albina SAMBORN. In 1920 Adam & Anna HOLM were living in Redondo, CA with their daughter's family. Rachel's married name was ANDERSON though no spouse was listed in the household. Rachel ANDERSON is listed with three male children, Donald age 5, Calvin age 3, and Francis age 1. I believe that Rachel's son Donald Holm ANDERSON b. 21 Apr 1914, died in Sonora, CA 26 January 2001 at age 86 and that his death was reported in the Modesto Bee on 30 Jan 2001. The second son, Calvin Hamilton ANDERSON b. 1 May 1916 in IA, died 15 May 1993. Calvin's death is listed in San Joaquin Co., CA, however, his place of residence was Columbia, CA. In 1930 Rachel's brother Donald A. HOLM is recorded in the census with his family in Hermosa Beach, CA. Donald's' wife is Gertrude E. WOKURKA b. 22 Feb 1892 and died 18 Jan 1964 in Long Beach, CA. At the time of the census they had two daughters, Marion age 11, and Mary M. noted as adopted with no age shown. Donald died in Los Angeles Co., CA on 30 Apr 1951. I'm hoping to locate someone from this family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to its rightful place with the family.
