He was born 1843-44 to Francis and Martha Taylor according to his civil war papers. He gives his pob as St. Albans , his father's as Northfield and his mother's as Brattleboro but I couldn't locate records for any of this. James enlisted in Lowell, Ma. and died 1884; he married in Providence and lived there for awhile.
