    3. Diane, LDS Family History Center (FHC) is connected with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. You do *not* need to be a member or even attend that church to use their family history centers (located in many of their churches around the country) in person or use their online services. To see what is available online, to find out more about FHC, and to locate history centers near you, check out this web page - http://www.familysearch.org/ Some years ago the family history centers/church made a concerted effort to microfilm vital records, church and land records, newspapers, etc. for their facility at Salt Lake City. Those microfilms are available on loan (for a small fee) to the family history centers across the states (maybe into other countries?). Each FHC has other materials (genealogical books donated, purchased) available, as well. That's just a tiny bit of info about it - please see the web site for more information.
