Hi Shelley, I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as Adam HOLM of Delaware, Iowa which was taken at the W.F. Kilborn & Co. Studio in Cedar Rapids, IA. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Adam looking to be in his 30's or 40's at the time. Thanks to the help of the Delaware County Genealogical Society I believe that this is a photograph of the Rev. Adam HOLM b. Dec 1839 in Scotland and d. 31 July 1926 at Britt, IA. Adam HOLM married Anna J. TAYLOR b. Apr 1845 in PA, sometime in 1885 or early 1886. I think that you've just helped me solve a 15 year old mystery. There is a lady, a Hattie L. Kester, buried in the Grandview Cemetery at Fayette, Fayette Co., IA, who listed an Emmett Hill and an Adam Holm as next of kin. These names are listed in the sexton's records of the Grandview cemetery. When I saw your message, it was like someone hit me upside the head with a two by four. Hattie died from consumption (tuberculosis), on 1 March 1889. Hattie never married. Now, Hattie's sister Dora, married Emmett Franklin Hill, and Emmett's parents are also buried at Grandview, but until you posted your message about the photo, I've been trying to figure out who in the sam heck Adam HOLM was. Now I know. Look at the photograph's signature. Hattie's sister Addie married Kingston Palmer Kilbourn. Slightly different spelling, but part of the same clan I'm sure. They were all in that part of Iowa in the 1880's. Hattie's sister Beulah Ann married my grandfather's brother, Edwin Joseph Taylor. Possibly related to Adam Holm's wife. I'm still only ankle deep in my TAYLORs. Too many of them, and extremely difficult to sort out. Thank you for this new avenue of pursuit. I will delve into it with gusto! I'd be thrilled if you would even scan the photo and send me a digitized image of it. Thank you.
