Edgar, Cornelius apparently was a pretty popular name a few generations back. I think you and I have corresponded a couple of times down through the years ( I was, and still am, searching for Dempsey Taylor) so probably you have this. Anyway, in Whitley and Knox Counties, KY there were about four Corneliuses around 1800-1850. Let me know if you need info on them.
