While I don't know how Bradley Taylor became associated as son of Merritt Taylor (and have no proof that he isn't), my I offer the following alternative????? Two of the other names you mentioned were Alsadie Taylor (wife of Irson Olinger) and Sarah G. Taylor (wife of Rodney Linnell). We find Bradley Taylor in White County in 1850. He is living next door to a Joseph Branneman, whose wife is named Alrada. Could Alrada be the Alsadie you listed??? Also note that there is a Sarah Olinger, age 10, listed with Joseph and Alrada. As she is listed after the younger child Emily, this possibly indicates that Sarah is of another marriage by Alrada. Could Sarah Olinger be a daughter of Irson and Alsadie/Alrada Olinger? Did Alsadie/Alrada divorce from Irson Olinger and marry second to Joseph Branneman? There is an Ireson Olinger in White County in 1850, with wife named Sarah (possibly his second wife??) Note also that there is a Sarah J. Taylor, age 14, living in this Branneman household, who could fit the Sarah G. Taylor you listed. 1850 District 13, White County, Illinois 1437/1437 Joseph Branneman, 39, m, farmer, b Pennsylvania Alrada, 31, f, b Pennsylvania Emily A., 2, f, b Pennsylvania Sarah Olinger, 10, f, b Pennsylvania Sarah J. Taylor, 14, f, b Illinois Mary E., 8, f, b Ilinois Mary King, 47, f, b Pennsylvania 1438/1438 Bradley Taylor, 21, m, laborer, b Pennsylvania Julia, 23, f, b Pennsylvania Susan Smith, 10, f, b Pennsylvania Now, not withstanding the fact that dates and places of birth continually change throughout the Census records, please note that in the above Census record, Alrada and Bradley listed their place of birth as Pennsylvania, while Sarah J. and Mary E. listed it as Illinois. If they are the same family, that would indicate to me that the family moved from Pennsylvania (or wherever they they were born) to Illinois between 1928 and 1836. As an alternative set of parents, could Alrada, Bradley, Sarah, and Mary be the children of the following Pearson/Peerson Taylor? 1840 Census, White County, Illinois Peerson Taylor - 1010000100000 2311001000000 one male age 50-60, one female age 40-50, one female age 15-20 (Alrada?), one male (Bradley?) and one female age 10-15 (unknown?), three females age 5-10 (Sarah, Mary, and Elizabeth?), one male (John?) and two females under age 5 (Harriett and one unknown?). 1850 Census, District 13, White County, Illinois 403/403 Pearson Taylor, 63, m, farmer, b Pennsylvania Margt., 53, f, b N.C. John, 13, m, b Indiana Harriet J., 11, f, b Illinois Elizabeth, 17, f, b Indiana The above just something for possible consideration. Here is Julia in 1880 and 1900 Census. Appears that Bradley died before 1880, perhaps in the Civil War?? 1880 Census, Holland Township, Shelby County, Illinois 127/128 Julia A.
