Barbara, You can post anything you want about a book/CD on the lists. Rootsweb just doesn't want to see money mentioned or it "appears" to be a commercial post. In the past those who were strictly in the publishing business would subscribe, post a list of what was being sold, give contact information, unsubscribe and go on to the next surname or locality and do the same. Rootsweb is not a forum for free adverstisement, so they ruined it for the researcher who wants to tell about publishing his/her family book. However, a person publishing a history of their family is a whole different matter. He or she is not in the publishing business and is not doing this to make money (sure you need to recoup your expenses, that's understandable). That person can list their Table of Contents, excerpts from the book/CD, whatever they wish from their family. In fact, it would be better to tell which TAYLOR lines and then ask those who are interested to contact him/her offline for details on price and shippping, as I mentioned before. That way, there aren't several hundred "Me too" messages and he or she does not have to explain several hundred times which family line it is. So, please, I encourage the person who first wrote about it (forgive me, I don't remember who it was) to talk about who, what, where, etc. - a conversation can take place on the list, no problem. But when it comes to actually purchasing the product, ironing out those details, and personal addresses and/or phone numbers, please take it off list. That satisfies Rootsweb policy and protects the privacy of those who really wouldn't want their full name and address listed on line. Checks or money orders will have to be sent, so send that information to the person offering the product. All messages posted here are archived and remain that way forever. Thanks, and I hope that clears up the confusion.
