But, when you use their online search feature you will get hits from their IGI database. It is notoriously wrong. This info is posted by church members who are looking for their ancestors in order to baptise them posthumously into the church. Many use unverifiable info. And, the LDS church will NOT make corrections. They will only allow you to submit correct info to be posted along with the bad. It is a "tool". I like going to the local LDS Family History Group where you can order the microfilmed original documents, etc. but some of the Family Trees that people have posted for my family that I have documentation on are so off it makes me cringe. Unfortunately my Taylor's are the family I have the very least documentation on and wish there was some info posted on them at familysearch.org but nada..not even any bad info...they just don't seem to be part of anyone else Taylor search. The worst part is I have Taylor married to a Taylor (supposedly not related) so I can't even find much on maiden names...I did find one for a great grandmother and she was a Jones... Laurie: What were the names and dates of your Taylors? My mother was a Taylor that married a Taylor! I like that website because sometimes it will lead me in the right direction and sometimes it doesn't. That's right, Carla. I agree with your documentation statement, too. But, the LDS records can be a good "jump- off" point. Going to their family history centers, in their churches, has been invaluable to me. They don't bother you about being Mormon; sometimes they have *very* knowledgeable and helpful volunteers working, and they keep microfilms and fisches on hand or you can order them to be sent there. Those have the copies of the actual documents..... they are so interesting to look at! I love that stuff. :) Teri
