Hi Jim...I don't have any info to connect your John Taylor with my line, but my Robert William Forbes Taylor b 1849, son of James Taylor and Jane Hastings, came from the Carirnbanno area of New Deer, Aberdeenshire. Robert's witness at birth was Capt. Forbes of Cairnbainno House and Robert named his son James Forbes Taylor. Possible connection there. Robert's father was also a blacksmith. If I could get back one more generation, maybe we could connect. Good luck!
