    2. ROBERT TAYLOR
    3. Earl, Since Robert Taylors are pretty much a dime a dozon, I can understand your confusion! No, I don't know Robert W Taylor, but am definitely interested in what he has. I received Wesley W Taylor's pension records from NARA (about 300 pages worth!) on Friday, and in an affidavit dated 1 Apr 1898 B. Matilda Taylor stated she had 5 children from Wesley, and my ggrandfather, Withford G. Taylor, father of Cyrus C. Taylor, was then living in Larkspur, CO. I'm very much interested if Robert W. Taylor's grandfather was Cyrus C. or Cyrus G. Taylor; Cyrus G. being Withford's brother, and Cyrus C. Taylor's uncle. The other children of Wesley and Matilda are listed as follows: 1. Flora E. Jones (married Charles H. Jones 21 Jul 1883, Edgar Co., IL; previously married to John M. Brown 25 Nov 1876 in Edgar Co., IL) Iola, KS 2. Charles Taylor, deceased. (Could this be the Charles Burtin Taylor you mentioned? He would have been born around 1857-8) 3. Calista Wishard, Toronto, IN (Vermillion Co.) (She's listed as Amelia C. in the 1860 census) 4. Cyrus Taylor, Toronto, IN (he and Calista were living together in the 1900 census with their mother, Betsy M. Taylor, Helt Twp, Vermillion Co., IN) In this same affidavit, Matilda Taylor states Wesley had two sisters: 1. Sarah F. Hollingsworth, living in Kansas City, MO 2. Belle Ligett, living in Paris, Edgar Co., IL (Edmund Liggett married Belle Taylor 5 Jan 1870 in Edgar Co, IL). The records show Wesley left Paris 9 Feb 1889 for the silver or gold mines of Colorado, his last letters being to his sons in March 1889, then nothing more was heard from or about him. He had lived in Pikes Peak, CO, in 1858, and one record has him in CA 1849! Wesley and Matilda lived at 708 N. Central Ave, Paris. She lived with a son for 6 months, until she moved to Toronto, IN, spring 1890 and lived in a small house provided by Cyrus G. She was bed-ridden from July 1897. She apparently passed away between 1900 and 1910, and I expect is buried in Vermillion Co. In addition to his service with the 79th IL Vols (Co. D), Wesley was also apparently involved with recruiting Co F, 11 IN Cav 1863-65, being elected a 2nd LT, but never being officially commissioned. He was also stabbed by a Frank Scott in Paris for reasons unknown. Hopefully, some of this rings a bell with someone!
