Jacob TAYLOR appears on the troop roster of Company D from Burke County, NC as a musician during the 1838 Indian Removal Action. Could this Jacob possibly be the Jacob TAYLOR who was born in Mecklenburg Co., NC in 1804 and married an unknown Elizabeth in 1825 in Burke County, NC. Our Jacob lived at least until 1860. Jacob TAYLOR's children of interest to us were: Sidney TAYLOR b. April 10, 1827, d. September 28, 1904 and buried in Eastview Cemetery in Newton, NC. George W. TAYLOR b. abt. 1828. Are there TAYLOR researchers out there who can confirm that this Jacob is our Jacob. Any additional information that is available about him would be appreciated. Thank You! Ray
Ray H Smith; I think your Jacob Taylor is a descendant of Isaac (COUSIN) Taylor of Augusta Co. VA. Cousin Isaac lived on land of my Isaac (in will of Isaac Taylor jr) in "little cabin on Mill Creek". They came to America abt the same time, lived close together, moved and died abt the same time, They named their children mostly the same names but my Isaac had a son George who had only one child, a daughter Sarah (named in Isaac's will) Cousin Isaac's son George had many children including Adam who was progenitor of a great many Taylors. Paul Phelps and Theodore Halstead descend from that line. Theo Halstead just sent me a gedcom of George's descendants. I can't forward it to you as I have no e-mail address for you. The message was MANY PAGES, I TRIED TO PRINT IT AND RAN OUT OF PAPER WITH PAGE 70!! I don't know how many more there are and I can't make my printer pick up at page 71. Paul Phelps <pbphelps@cpug.org> Theodore Halstead <tedandlue@msn.com>. After I get these names entered in my program I can search for Jacob Taylor. It's too daunting to go thru these 70 pages. Maybe Theo or Paul can help you.
