    3. Dale; Do all the Taylor DNA Tests share information? Is it possible to have cousins in each test and not know the results? Or join one and not be told of matches in other tests? Can a male Taylor descendant not direct descent thru males be able to take the Taylor test? I know, anyone can take the test but does it compute wit people one or more generations. I have a cousin with the same g grandfather as I but he is not a Taylor. Can women carry on the male Taylor gene? Does my daughter pass on the Taylor gene to her son? Or my g daughter? OKAAYYY - I admit it! I'm the Co-Administrator of the Taylor project at Family Tree DNA. We've got a single project made available through FTDNA. Only - there are several other DNA projects at Relative Genetics. So, there are -like- four or five Taylor DNA projects available... Here's the easily accessible Taylor DNA project that's available from FTDNA: Join the Taylor Surname Project http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=Q83848&special=true Taylor Family Genes http://www.familytreedna.com/public/taylorfamilygenes/index.aspx Taylor DNA http://taylordna.org/ Dale E. 3. Hi Earl, No, not all of the projects share information. Some members of projects have provided me with their login information and I periodically try to find new matches for members across the projects. That has worked for you and Jeb, as your results at Relative Genetics were more informative than the results you had through FTDNA. So, yes - it's possible to be in one project and not know about an actual genetic cousin in another project. That's why individuals need to upload their results to publicly accessible databases such as Ysearch.org. Then, the research tools provided there can find genetic matches by searching the entire database of folks who have tested at multiple companies. And no, you need direct male lineage to perform a Y-chromosomal Y-STR test of paternal ancestry. Women do not carry the Y chromosome. And it's the Y chromosome which does not mix with other paired copies of chromosomes. The Y chromosome is passed along from father to son in an unaltered fashion, except for mutations. So no, a woman will not pass along a male Taylor Y chromosome to her son. Dale _________________________________ Earl Taylor wrote: > Dale; Do all the Taylor DNA Tests share information?
