    3. Hello: This message is for WBillJ@aol.com and anyone else. I have a family tradition told to me by my father before his death in 1980 that one of his ancestors came to the USA as a stowaway? That particular line is the line of the Thomas Taylor b 1793 that I posted recently to the list. Thomas and Mary ? lived the latter portion of their lives in Smyth Co, Va. I have a very lengthy file on that line but can't get past Thomas b 1793? I contend that this marriage is between the MS Pool & not the LA Pool. >> There is a Wilkinson Co., Miss. that is just above the present West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana. In the early 1800 time period in which David Poole lived there was only Feliciana Parish, La. which comprised the present East and West Feliciana Parishes. The Feliciana parish seat was Clinton which is the parish seat for E. Feliciana today. When the parish was divided St. Francisville became the parish seat for West Feliciana. Records for people moved, but the people still stayed where they had been living. This can cause confusion when trying to trace people. It is also not uncommon to find people apparently living in Wilkinson Co., Miss. who might actually have been residents of La. or visa versa. John

    1. [TAYLOR] Border changes of counties Re:William Taylor and Eliza McKinley
    2. The "Border" between TN and MO is the Mississippi River. If any of you have questions abt county changes, I will give them to you. I have a book, that gives all that. Carleen

    1. [TAYLOR] Border changes regarding TN and NC
    2. If your people were in TN BEFORE the 1780s, then maybe the "border" changes would affect you. Otherwise, you do not have to worry abt it. There are some records in NC that concern TN before that time, but I have been told that very little of it concerns people. A great many of the early settlers came from/through NC, into TN, but they went into VA first, because it was easier. Rivers versus Mountains. There are records IN TN, for the 1780s. I have some of them. So some of you are worry about something that does not exist. Having said all this, there may be land grants in NC that were given to people going into TN. But for the most part, neither the US government, or NC wanted whites to go to that land, and stir up the Indians before they had treaties. They could not protect them. If I am wrong abt this, someone tell me! Carleen
