I am searching for information about William Taylor, Sr. born ca. 1775, died April 16, 1835 in Marion Co., IL. He married Abigail Renfro, 1801, Franklin Co., GA. She was born ca. 1766 and died Sept. 22, 1851 in Jefferson Co., IL. Three of their children were: John W. Taylor, James Wiley Taylor, and William Preston Taylor, Jr. Abigail also married Westwood Waters. John W. Taylor was born ca. 1800 in NC or SC, married Elizabeth Wayman, Oct. 23, 1839, Washington Co., IL, children: Asa (b. 1839), James W. (~1843), Alexander J. (Dec. 20, 1843), Milton (~1847), and Sarah A. (~1848). These children were born in Washington Co., IL. John W. Taylor appears to have been married before coming to IL and had a son named William R. Carleen, None of those children's names are familiar. What I have listed, for Jesse and Catherine's children are: Jane, born 1829, in TN; Susan born 1833; James born 1839 in TN; Paton (Peyton) born 1840; Sarah (sally) born 1847; Thomas (my ggrandfather), born 1845 iin TN; Catherine, born 1848, and possibly Frances (Fannie) born in 1830 in TN. I have NC as birthplace for both Jesse and Catherine, but that was "by word of mouth" in the family and I have not been able to verify that. In addition, I have that Jesse was married at least two more times, but this information came from a cousin and has not been verified. He allegedly married a Mary Westbrook about 1872-3 and an Emily R., about 1854. I do not have a marriage date for Jesse and Catherine. I also have that Jesse died in 1873(according to my grandmother) and that Catherine died about 1863, when she fell from the second story of the house. I have that Emily was born in 1835-6, in TN, and that Mary was born in 1829 in AL. I also have a list of children for Jesse and Emily as: Eddy, b. 1856 Thomas 2, b.1857 Florence, b. 1862 Alfred Albert, b. 1863 William Willy, b. 1865 Mary, b. 1868 I show that Jesse and Mary had two children: Samuel, b. 1870 and Erma, b. 1872. I have no idea just how accurate all of this information is because I have not been able to verify it. I do know that Jesse was married at least twice, because my great uncle recalls that he remarried after Catherine fell and died. Hope all this makes sense---it makes MY head swim!!! Glitz, This has to be the same family I am also researching, but I had no knowledge of Mary. Did she have a middle name or initial that you know of? I did have information, from an cousin, saying that he had been married to a Mary B., but the marriage date I had was 1829 and they had allegedly been married in Alabama. Hi I am seeking information on the family of Aaron TAYLOR who married Abigail NUTT, daughter of Levi/Levy NUTT (born 01 Jan 1731/32 to John Nutt) and Ann IVINS (born 07 July 1732 to Isaac Ivins). Aaron and Abigail TAYLOR lived first in Burlington Co NJ and then in Philadelphia PA where his will was probated about 1793. He is the son of John TAYLOR of Burlington Co. New Jersey. This Taylor line stems from Samuel Taylor who arrived in Burlington Co in 1677 on the flie boat Martha. Aaron & Abigail TAYLOR had the following children: John, Ann, Susanna (married Morris Nagle/Nagel), Lydia (married Christopher Marshall JONES - my ggggrandparents). He married (2) DORA ANN B. HOLLEY November 22, 1838 in Talledega Co. Ala., daughter of THOMAS L. HOLLEY and ELIZABETH BRYAN. She was born November 1824 in Alabama, and died 1913 in Fordyce, Dallas, Arkansas. Notes for HENRY TAYLOR: Henry served with the 3rd Louisiana Cavalry, during the War Between the States. He died from wounds, received to his head, in the War. Family traditions says that he was taken to the Veterans Hospital in La. Source: Arleen Taylor Lee, (my mother's cousin and family historian) Doryann filed for his pension in 1902. Notes for DORA ANN B. HOLLEY: While " Doryann" was the name on the will of her grandfather, Henry Bryan and on her marriage record to Henry, it is clear her proper name was Dora Ann. She homesteaded two tracts of land in her own name after Henry died. She farmed and raised turkeys. She was a school teacher, and rode a mule 7 miles to the school every day, with her youngest child on the saddle in front of her. Dora Ann died at the home of her daughter, Bettie Amis, in Dallas County, Arkansas. Notes for DORA ANN B. HOLLEY: She was living with her daughter, Bettie Amis, at the time of her death.
