Can you help locate William Henry TAYLOR in 1870, 1860 or 1850? I found Wm. H. in the 1880 Census, in MO. Mary, You and Ray are correct abt these ages on the census. One Taylor we have in AL was married to Elizabeth, age 000, then in a later census, Elizabeth's age was way different. As it turns out, he had married 3 times and two were Elizabeths! And, as is the case today, it seems, the last Elizabeth was much younger than him. He ended up with abt 22-25 children, so I guess he needed 3 wives. So I would keep that in mind. Look at the birth place for the wife too, is it the same? Also, what Ray said is correct. Sometimes it was neighbors who gave the information, when the census taker did not want to go to the end of that long, muddy road, etc. Then take into account that he had to make up to three copies of these surveys, County-State-Federal, then you have mistakes creep in. Carleen
To Shirley Carter, Riverside, I found two David C. Taylor's in the 1850 Tn. sensus. one in De Kalb Co. and the other in Wash. Co. I took the Image picture of that sensus, since there is a David Taylor there also, I tried to e-mail to the add listed, and they have returned, as unknown, I do not believe that on here I can place it as a picture, that was why I sent it to your add, if you mail I will send you what I find and you can see as the Image is shown on the sensus record. Don't you all feel bad about those discrepancies, I have found the same, in looking for James M. Taylor and Margaret Fitzgerald, who's son was Robert E., he's listed as having been born, 1892-1894-1896, we know it's them cause the sister's names the same, and proven that one sister was born 19 yrs. later, we have that picture, by 1920 Robert E. is 2 yrs. younger, his parents in 10 yrs. time are now 20 yrs older, and it can't be that they was married and had childern at 10 yrs. old. What goes wrong, could be at the time the sensus person was asking question on the families household, one of the young ones, may having given the info, if the parents was working, or not at home, I have one that the sister was named Cora, I find her listed as Ora, same family, many guessed at what was thier age, many was never listed with a birth cert., many just on Bible records, many by the time they made thier own Bible records could also have guessed on the yr. of birth, not saying they all did, but this has happened. Like when I ask my wife, she says, I think she was born in May and it turns out that it was Apr. any comments. Ray { Clearwater } & Nez Norton scans all in & out Mail and backed up by ZoneAlarm
Please be considerate and SPECIFIC in your Subject Line. Having "Taylor" or "Looking for Taylors" in the Subject Line is of no help, since this is the TAYLOR list. We are all "Looking for Taylors". It would be more helpful to the sender and recepient if the Subject Line said at least - Northern Taylor or Southern Taylor, the dates would be helpful as well. The more specific the sender can be, the better chances of having someone answer their query. Janice--Thank you so very much for all your help. To all of you who offer your services of lookups--thank you too. If I can be of any assistance in the Brown Co. TX area please do not hesitate to let me know. Since several have helped me find this information, now I want to post the info so that it will be in the archives for someone else who might need it as well. Clearly these are both the same family, but there is several discrepancies: 1880 Hopkins Co. TX census Simeon Taylor W M Head Feb 1842 58 GA GA GA 3 children one living Sarah Taylor W F Wife Nov 1848 51 MS SC SC John W Taylor W M Son Dec 1874 25 MS GA ALA There is some discrepancies in comparison between the 1880 and 1900 census. Clearly both Simeon's are the same person. What is odd is that in 1880 Sarah shows to 6 years older than Simeon, and in 1900 he shows to be 7 years older. According to Bible records, Sarah was born July 5, 1835 and died November 4, 1886. Could Simeon have married again to someone else also named Sarah? Another odd discrepancy is that the 1900 census shows Simeon with 3 children and 1 living. I know for a fact that his daughter Penny (Penelopy), a half-sister to my great grandmother did not die until 1944, and I also believe that Alma who married her husband's brother is her sister although I have not proven it. One last note from the above 1900 census, birth info says Simeon born GA, Sarah born MS, and then for the parents info in John W. Taylor's line, it says father born GA, Mother born AL. ===== Researching: WEST/TUCKER/TAYLOR/GOBER/JAMES/FLEMING/REYNOLDS/WOMACK __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Any > connection Mary: Your TAYLORs seem to use the same names as my branch: John, Henry, Thomas, Simeon. John was born in NC 1767. His son, Henry, was born in South Carolina in 1787. They then moved to possibly Georgia (Elbert, GA?) and finally down into South Alabama, Baldwin County, AL, to be specific. I think John also had sons named Ward, Simeon, and Hiram. John arrived in Alabama before 1810. Henry was there by 1819. I would love to know where John came from and who were his parents? I have always thought that he probably came from the Virginia TAYLORs. I would love any info you might have about these TAYLORs. Kathryn

"I was at FTM's Genealogy Library and there was a Wesley Taylor born to a Samuel Taylor and Hannah Harrison ancestor. I think his father was Thomas Taylor, son of Richard Taylor. This was at "History of the Taylor Family". pg. 107. Thomas had five sons---Nicholas, Wesley, Harrison D., Milton and Thomas---and a daughter Frances, all of whom are dead, save Harrison D. and Milton. (Written in 1925.) Mentioned were Hopkins, Muhlenberg, Grayson, and Breckenridge counties. Does this fit your Wesley Taylor? Good luck in your search. ((I am always looking for a connection to my Thomas Taylor (1728-1797) in Loudoun Co., VA.)) Mary" Mary- Could you please give some more information about the source "History of the Taylor Family" mentioned above. I tried to pull it up at Genealogylibrary.com and wasn't able to do so. I'm very interested because it's about the right time frame and one of the possible places of birth for my gg-grandfather, Nicholas Taylor. I'd appreciate your assistance. Karen
As far as I am concerned you can add my information to yours. Just remember it is a work in progress. I was very interested in your information on the 'George' connection. I would be interested in any references you have for the information that you have here. As I said several of us have been trying to document William Tarlton Taylor 1759's parents. I will be forwarding this information to the other people who are researching this for their comments. I am sure the first thing they will say where is your documentation? But It is about the same information and various names that I have continually come up with. Hello Debbie, and TAYLOR-L List, Are you a Buchanan? My ancestors on the Eastman side had a Margaret Buchanan b. August 12, 1808 in Ireland who m. Levi S. Eastman born ? in Mohawk River, Vermont. These grandparents go back to Mary Root and the Isham and Randolph families. Relatives of George Eastman of Kodak fame. Then my grandfather Henry Taylor (1824-1931) son of Thomas Taylor married their daughter Arminda Eastman. These are my Loudoun Co. Taylors. I now think they "removed" to S.Carolina and others went to OH> WI> NE. Any connection? I am still searching for my Pierpoint/Taylor relatives. Who was the founder of Taylorstown, Virginia? Mary
