Dear All: As you all know, Rootsweb is under a major reconstruction and upgrading program. New servers are being installed etc. >From time to time, there are problems accessing various parts of the sites. Here is the latest information from Tim Pierce as of last night. It looks like another week or so to finally get it all done. The lists that he refers to is primarily the mailing lists but also some of the search engines etc. Should be faster, better etc when it's all done. There are more details posted on the Rootsweb home page. Best Regards John A Hansen List Admin At 09:51 PM 6/28/02 , Tim Pierce wrote: >I can only speak first-hand for the mail-related systems. Dear All: A useful tool has been posted on the Burkes web site. It allows you to relate the family or Clan name to specific areas of Scotland. The Area map then has a connection to some brief history and bio's of the family that are contained in the Burkes registry. This then provides an incentive to join the various mailing lists here at Rootsweb for those specific areas as well. The Scottish districts are listed under the International section on the mailing list index. There is also Clan mailing lists and the Clan Message boards here at Rootsweb for more information as well. Thanks go to Alastair McIntyre for his posting of this useful hint in his weekly newsletter and to Burkes for their work to assemble this integrated map, names and genealogy information. Best Regards John A Hansen >From the Electric Newsletter: NEW CLAN MAP Ever wondered where the main Scottish Clans held their lands? Burke's Peerage & Gentry have a new interactive Clan Map of Scotland, showing principal areas occupied by the Highland Clans and Lowland families at the time of James VI. Then click on the map to search for family records within the Burke's database. http://www.burkes-scotland.com/sites/scotland/sitepages/cmindex.asp For the Electric Scotland Newsletter: To subscribe or unsubscribe simply go to http://www.electricscotland.com/maillist.htm for complete instructions.

Taylor Friends and Cousins, I am looking for my 4th Great Grandmother, Tabitha Taylor's (1800-1869) line. She married Samuel Phelps, Sr. (1788-1852) in Madison Co., KY on 3 Jan 1822. Samuel's father George Phelps (b. 1757) and his brother, Josiah, fought at Boonesborough with Daniel Boone. I believe that Tabitha Taylor is a direct descendant of Peter Taylor, who also fought at Boonseborough with the Phelps Family, but I am needing help with her direct line (Taylor), please. Please e-mail me direct if you have any info on Tabitha's line: ParkeFamilyHeritage@charter.net Thank you! Doug Park Hurricane, WV
I am investigating Taylors of Pentrich, Derbyshire, England. There is a Family Pedigree from the LDS CD that has a John Taylor born about 1698 in Accomac, Accomack County, Virginia and died 1760 in Accomac who is also listed as having married a Mary Taylor in 1727 in Pentrich. It is stated that this John and Mary had two children who were born in Pentrich, to wit: Margaret b. August 6, 1727 and John Taylor born abt. 1728. I notice in the 1704-05 Rent Roll for Accomack a number of Taylors including an Elias Taylor listed. This is the name of my g-g-grandfather who ws the son of John Taylor born in Pentrich about 1728. As Elias was a fairly unusual first name, I am wondering about the possible connections. Does anyone have information about the Taylors of Accomac and their connections to Pentrich? John Bulger
