Thanks Ray, I was glad to see your posting on Taylor-Snow history and photos. There are also pictures in the book, but not as good quality as yours, as they are older, and time changes everything.. I am going to post a note, by Elisha Taylor. "Note--From about 1815 Hon. John W. Taylor, of 1784, then a member of Congress of the United States of America, began collecting facts for a genealogy, and his grandmother, Mrs. Mercy Cox, remarkable for her tenacious memory, gave him valuable assistance. His daughter, Mrs Melvina Taylor, has procured the history of the later generations. Asher Taylor, deceased, of Jersey City, New Jersey, a descendent of George, the second son of the Emigrant, (AKA) also AKA Edward of Briggs House" for more than forty years previous to 1886 made a record of all he could learn about the Taylor families and had a very large manuscript volume and many old letters, and was many years in Middletown, N.J. Mrs. Malvina Taylor now nearly 80 years old, well remembers her father's interest in procuring information from Mercy Cox, and by correspondence . Mrs Taylor is now in Illinois, and has seen and conversed with more of the Taylor, Seeley and Holmes families than any other person interested in this subject. Burk's history of the landed Gentry of England is referred to by Asher Taylor for important facts. I have condensed the history gathered from all these reliable sources." Elisha Taylor born May 14, 1817. Detroit, May, 1886, --Nov. 1894 I think you will be surprised at the many extended families. I have researched my direct line back to Edward the Emigrant, through his son William. Hope you don't think I am trying to outdo you, I just like to help whatever way I can, Been doing this since the 1960's. And still have a lot to learn. thanks again for your posting on Taylor-Snow. Mary

Hello List, I am researching the Paxton surname and I think that my Third Great Grandfather James Ferdinand Douglas Paxton had a sister named Agnes Paxton who married a William Taylor on the 27 May 1842 in Musselburgh, Inveresk, Midlothian, Scotland. I think that the Agnes Paxton who married this William Taylor is my Third Great grandfathers sister as they all lived around the same High Street, area. If anyone has any information about this Taylor family I would appreciate some help. Agnes Paxton and William Taylor had two son's named William Taylor and James Paxton Taylor. I also think that Agnes is mine as her father was James Paxton and mother Margaret Currie. Agnes also had a sister named Mary Ann Paxton. I don't know anythink else about Mary Ann only that she was born in 1820 in Tranent, East Lothian, Scotland. Agnes was also born there about 1822. But James Ferdinand Douglas Paxton was born in Inveresk, Midlothian, Scotland. If anyone has seen these names please contact me pamelajgroves@hotmail.com Thank you in advance for any information I might receive. Kind Regards Pamela J Groves

I am trying to find my three great uncles and have decided to concentrate on them one by one. James Taylor emmigrated to the USA in 1851 through Philadelphia and married, I think, Olive Young Moodie in about 1852'. I think he had 7 children, 4 names unknown. Jessie married somebody Houston, William believed to have gone to Kansas Citry. and Mary Young Taylor who married Lewis Wentworth Harrington and they had two boys. Wentworth Lewis married and had two girls who died spinsters and James Taylor Harrington who married Lavinia C. Vail and the had four girls and a boy. The boy's name was Willard b. about 1918 and the eldest girl was Jocelyn b about 1915. I'll also put this onto Harringtons as well Any help will be greatly appreciated John jhbrake@alphalink.com.au

I DID A QUICK CHECK OF THE 1779 CENSUS AND A REUBEN TAYLOR IS LISTED BUT NOT TO A SPECIFIC TOWNSHIP AND OLD 96 COVERED PARTS OF 5 OR 6 COUNTIES. I BELIEVE I SAW HIM ON A TORY LIST IN THE LIBRARY THE OTHER DAY. I WILL LOOK NEXT TIME I GO BY THE LIBRARY. I HAVE THE TAYLORS OF LAURENS FOR THE 1790 CENSUS AND HE IS NOT FROM LAURENS. I WILL LOOK IN THE OTHER COUNTIES NEXT TIME. MY GUESS IS ABBEVILLE, SC AND HE WAS PROBABLY ENGLISH BY THE FIRST NAME. J.R.
