    2. Thanks, Carleen. I believe that is not my Simon P. Taylor. However, there may be some connection, but with the same first name I suppose not likely. Thanks for your help. I will search in that area of SC. Goldie

    2. Goldie, I was trying to find Simon P. in the 1880c to help you know when he came to Tx. But I did not find him there at all, under any name. Nor did I find Jemima. But I did find one Simon P Taylor (b 1830) in SC. He seems much older than his wife, Nancy. Could this be your Simon? 2. Goldie, My Taylors were from Ashe County North Carolina and Lee County Virginia. They are mentioned in the Vanover Book written by Greg Vanover. Do you have any Vanover's? That connection would verify any connection of your Taylors to mine. Thanks for replying, Shirl

    3. Jackie, I know how you feel (about `just dropped here from space'). My Taylor family are proving so hard to trace. I can get back to my ggg-grandfather and the line stops there. I don't know where he was born died or anything. Bit of a mystery at this stage really. But good luck with your research. In the meantime I shall keep perservering. Patience is a virtue and it is most definitely a necessity when researching ones history. 1. [TAYLOR] New England Taylors
    2. I haven't posted in about a year. I am still looking for any information concerning my family back in the late 1700's. My Great Great Grandfather was William W. Taylor, born 13 June 1788, probable in Conn and was a shoemaker to the best of our knowledge. His wife was Hannah (NLN) born 7 June 1797, maybe in eastern NY state. They had 9 children eight girls and 1 boy who was Merritt Daniel Taylor, my Great Grandfather. Merritt Daniel was born in West Stoclkbridge, Mass 30 Sept 1819. He served briefly in the civil war and then moved to Tioga county in PA. My Grandfather was Thomas Herbert Taylor, born in Mainesburg (Tioga county) PA 27 Sept. 1866. I would appriciate hearing from anyone who might have any information concerning this Taylor family. Herb Taylor

    3. Every once in a while I repeat my query to the board in case there is someone new out there who knows the answer! Well, here goes again: I am searching for the parents of Jeremiah Taylor who was b. ca 1770 - don't know location. He first appears in Culpeper Co., VA on the 1791 tax list. A few years later his only son Valentine Taylor was baptized in St. Mark's Parish, Culpeper Co. Valentine's only son Thornton was born in Culpeper. Gradually they migrated over the Blueridge to Page County where Thornton grew up and fathered many children. Many of his descendants still live there. I am sure one of the reasons they are so hard to trace is the fact that Jeremiah and Valentine each only had one son and several daughters. If there had been more sons, maybe there would be more Taylor records! Anyway, does anyone, anywhere have in their files the name "Jeremiah Taylor"? Thanks for any info. 2. Shirl, thanks. My TAYLOR interest: Simon Pickens Taylor, b. 15 Aug 1825 in SC - d. 3 Mar 1899 in TX (he was also known as Aleck), m. 2 Aug 1859 in TX to Jemima Caroline Jones, b. 16 May 1843 in Rep. of Texas. Simon Pickens Taylor's parents were: John Taylor and Barbery Kelley - (she was born in or near Dublin, Ireland). I do not know when Simon Pickens Taylor came to Texas nor whether or not other members of his family accompanied him. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Goldie
