Larry; I think my Taylor line goes back to William Taylor,b abt 1680, Antrim, Ulster, IRE came to PA abt 1730 with four sons;Mathew b 1707, Antrim, Isaac b 1710, Robert b 1712, and John b 1718. Isaac went back to Antrim and returned with his family to Borden Tract, Augusta Co. VA. William went to VA with Isaac, one son stayed in PA and one went back to IRE where he died. Helen; My Taylors came from Antrim, Ulster, IRE to America abt 1737. They were Scots-Irish. I recently took the Taylor DNA test and it proved identical to that of Jeb Stuart Taylor who thinks he descends from the same line as President Zachary Taylor (We also have that family Legend!!)whose family came to America from Carlisle, England abt 1620. The Taylor homeland is half way across the Scotland/England border. They were called "Borderers" I don't know when my Taylors were sent from Scotland to Ulster. Do you? Bev, how specific can you be regarding your Taylor line in VA? I go back to Turner Robert Taylor m. Sarah Jane Sparger in early-mid 19th century in southern or southwestern Virginia. His son Robert Marion Taylor m. Nettie Clay Laffoon in Surry Co NC c. 1880. We have been unable to trace the line farther back and would love to get a break here.
