ANYTHING YOU HAVE ON THE TAYLORS OF EDGEFIELD, INCLUDING CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN OF JESSE TAYLOR. MARRIAGES,...ANYTHING. THANKS, BRENDA PASS
Are there any descendents of Arthur Taylor D1765 in Nash County NC on the list right now. We are interested in tracing his line back to the UK, Scotland, or Ireland. Judy Taylor Suffolk VA
Hi Sue Pleased to have been of a help to you. I hope it is the break through they were looking for. My James William Taylor christened in Walthamstow Essex in 1810 gives his occupation as gardener in the census. I do not know why he would have moved to Sussex or why he would have come back to Lewisham in 1861/71 before emigrating to New Zealand. One day I may find the reason. Merry Christmas Irene
Jan, in the publication by Eva Eubank Wilkerson, "Index to Marriages of OLD RAPPAHANNOCK and ESSEX COUNTIES, VIRGINIA 1655 - 1900," there is a Reuben Taylor who married Barbara Brooks in Essex County Virginia, January 3, 1827. It's recorded in Marriage Book 1, Page 244 in the courthouse in Tappahannock, Virginia. I'm not sure where Abbeville is located??? I am interested in the Burgess line involving Andrew Jackson Burgess (b. 14 Aug 1825), especially information about his first wife, Elizabeth Taylor (b. Abt 1820). I have info about her from the 1883 Hocking history, but AJ took a second wife (Lidia Morehead, my line) 15 years before this book and there is no mention of her. Any help will be appreciated.
Hi Sue Thank you for replying. My Lancashire Taylors go back to Nathaniel TAYLOR who was born in Oldham, Lancs in 1824 (my maternal ggg grandfather) who married a Mary CROWTHER born in Bury, Lancs in 1824. I've hit a wall here as am just researching mainly on line and from old family letters etc. My fathers TAYLOR's come from Nottinghamshire, the oldest I can find being Thomas TAYLOR born Sibthorpe, Notts 1820 and married a Mary (HARRIS?). Both my paternal and maternal grandparents ended up living and working in Bradford, West Yorkshire, both grandfathers on the railway. Good luck with your research and Merry Christmas to you and your family. Have been researching Taylor clan that moved onto 50 acre parcel in Fairfax Co from across the river in Prince George Co, Maryland in 1776. There were 13 children that I would like to work thru. If anyone has info regarding these names in that area, all born from 1730-1767. The property is sold before 1800 and no info on where they all went except Basil who is our ancestor. SARAH circa 1743, Barbara circa 1745, MARY ANN circa 1747, THOMAS circa 1749, RICHARD circa 1751, CLOE ANN circa 1753, BENJAMIN circa 1755, EUNIS circa 1757, MILORD circa 1759, ARRYBECKY circa 1761, JOHN circa 1763, DRUSILLA circa 1767 and BASIL circa 1765. Would also like to touch base with anyone who has info on John H. Taylor, born 1830 in Prince William County, married Mary Davis and then Ann Fox, owned home in Haymarket, Va just before the war and died 3/12/1888. Thanks in advance for any replies and Merry Christmas to you all. I so enjoy reading all the mailings. Sure makes you wish the last name was Zabinilor or some other uncommon name at times. Hi Helen, As you say nice to see others 'trying' to research TAYLORs in England. As far as I know my lot were North Yorkshire based and weren't brave enough to stray over the Pennines into the 'badlands' of Lancashire (remember the War of the Roses). How successful has your research in Lancashire been? Cheers Sue -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Hello Irene, Thanks for replying to my message. I have a strong feel, but no facts to back it up yet!, that "John son of James and Mary born January 1809. In brackets Father was in North Yorkshire Regiment." could be my 3 x gt grandfather. The North Yorkshire Regiment is a very good sign. Although I will look into the other 2 John's as well. As I mentioned before, on the BRVI2 it says John was born in January 1809, then baptised in December 1811 at St Nicholas, Brighton. I thought John's father James could have been involved with the military in someway, it would explain why he left North Yorkshire only to return later. Mary, his wife, was born in Lovesome Hill area of North Yorkshire and they were all back there for the 1841 census. The other reason I thought there may have been military connections was because of the Elizabeth TAYLOR of Lovesome Hill, North Yorkshire, being born in Chatham bc 1809 (the same year John was born - maybe they were twins!). This was the time of the Napoleonic Wars, James was a tailor by trade and would have been in much demand by military. Could this explain any of your family members movements around the South of England at the time? Irene thank you once again, this could be the break I've been looking for , for some time! Fingers crossed. Cheers Sue -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Version: 7.0.298 / Virus Database: 265.6.4 - Release Date: 22/12/2004

Thank you and Merry Christmas Jan my great-grandmother was Julia Terena Taylor
Hi Sue At this stage I have not much information on James's family. The only family member I have most details on is our direct line James William Taylor who was christened March 10 1810 at Walthamstow. His parents were Matthew Taylor and Sarah Bouchard. Possible siblings to James are William c Oct 2 1800 Spitalfields, Thomas Jan 1811 and John William ch April 9 1815 Christ Church, Middlesex. James seems to have moved to Brighton where he married Caroline Lillywhite. In 1841 they were in Wadhurst, 1851/61 Arundel and 1871 Lewisham. It is possible there may be a connection with your John if he moved around like James did from the London area to Sussex and back again. This is all I have so far on my James. I do have some details taken from a film of the Parish Records of St Nicholas Church Brighton. There is a John listed on the list I was given from this film. He was the son of John and Ann and born 28 October 1811. There is also a John son of James and Mary born January 1809. In brackets Father was in North Yorkshire Regiment. There is also a John son of Thomas and ? born 8 November 1807. Maybe one of these is yours. Merry Christmas Irene
I DON'T KNOW IF THIS WILL HELP YOU OR NOT, BUT THERE WAS A REUBEN TAYLOR IN THE SC CENSUS (ORANGEBURG, THEN EDGEFIELD, THEN ABBEVILLE) RECORDS EARLY ON BUT OLDER THAN YOURS. IN MY SEARCH FOR NEWBERRY CO TAYLORS, I COME ACROSS VARIOUS NAMES AND WILL KEEP YOU IN MIND. MERRY CHRISTMAS, BRENDA PASS
I can't find any reference to CAPS TAYLOR in any of the census records, so suggest you find information elsewhere. Gareth
