    3. I am looking for information on my great, great grandmother's family. She was Nancy Reed TAYLOR Tate. She was born 4 December 1807 in Virginia and died 31 January 1870 in Van Zandt County, Texas. Her father is believed to be Ezekiel Taylor of which we have little information. Her siblings were: Lucinda who married Elijah Overton; Susanna who married John Whaley; Robert; Susannah who married Tinsley Chewing; and George Washington who married Emaline D. Nancy Reed TAYLOR was married to John Tate, probably in Virginia and then moved immediately to Hardeman County, Tennessee until 1850 when they came to Van Zandt County, Texas. At least some of her siblings were known to have been born in Hardeman County, Tennessee. All help appreciated. Bill Foster Dr. B. G. Foster 507 Pine Siskin Dr. Buda, TX 78610 512 295-5678

    3. Judi- Frederick is a name often used in Germany. If your Frederick Taylor was from Germany, the name would not have been Taylor there, it would have most probably been the equivalent of tailor (the occupation). I think that name is Schneider, but I don't know German, so I could be wrong about the actual name. Many foreign born people changed their names to the English one after being here for a while. My Hunter's were Jaeger's in Germany-that means hunter. Check out Henry Jones's books about people who came from the Palatinate areas of Germany. You could find your family there if they were German. Also check ship's lists for Schneider. Frederick most probably came into Pennsylvania when he arrived, so look there--and his family could have come much earlier-emigration form the Palatine areas started about 1709. 2. INFO THAT I HAVE PASSED DOWN IS THAT THE TAYLORS IN MY FAMILY WERE SCOTS. MAY HAVE CAUGHT A SHIP OVER FROM ANYWHERE THERE WAS A PORT. THE SCOTTISH CLANS CLAIM THEM AS SUCH AND ALSO AS SEPTS OF THE CAMERON FAMILY. WE HAVE THE KILT TO HONOR BOTH FAMILIES AS MY GREAT GREAT GRANDMOTHER ON MY MOM'S SIDE WAS A CAMERON, AND GREAT GREAT GRANDMOTHER ON DAD'S SIDE WAS A TAYLOR. SO TO HONOR BOTH SIDES OF MY FAMILY I CHOSE THE CAMERON (TODAY'S) KILT WHEN JOINING THE SCOTTISH CLANS. BRENDA PASS

    3. I have been looking for messages of any Taylor from Germany! In my Wilson linage I have an Eliza/Elizabeth Wilson who married a Peter Taylor, abt 1847, who came from Germany, at least that is what the Census says! The story I have been told is that the family came to America and stayed a while then the rest of the family went back to Germany and Peter stayed here. Peter & Eliza had 4 sons that I know of: Henry b-abt 1850, Thomas b-1852, James b-1856, & Robert b-1859. This Eliza Wilson is a possible sister to my 3rd g-grandmother Ann/Anna (Wilson) Cryer. Peter & Eliza lived in Alabama in and around the Morgan, Marshall Co, areas. If you think there might be a connection, I will gladly dig further and get my books/notes out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 3. Hi, From the informatioon that I've found there is no infication of this family being German other than the name being spelled tailor in some early research. Pass down information from the older family is that there ancestors came from England. An interesting thing about being german, Frederick's wife's family might have German ancestors. Some information found on her brother was in German and the settlement was mostly German. Jeff Carr and Mary James, your names are very similiar to mine. The places doesn't match. The earlist my group might have been about 1650. In the Orangebourgh District, SC, some of the families Were Taylors, Murrays, Baylors, Jones, Williams, Jackson, Griffin. What I'm trying to do is to take John Taylor, find out who his wife was and the name of the children and work back to NC or VA. One family that I forgot about yesterday is Nathaniel ( N F) Taylor and wife Harriet. They had ten to twelve children. After 1860 a lot of the people could not be found. Thanks for the replies. Happy Holidays, Murray

    3. Hi List, My Taylors were/and have been in South Carolina for two hundred plus years and I've been researching for quite a few years with no results. Some of the folks have answered my query with similiar names in thier families but connecting the families is the brick wall. I have a John Taylor in the 1790 census for the old Orangebourgh district, SC. In the St Matthews Parish, SC I found John and Joseph Taylor owing land and paying taxes in that area in 1818. Later Joseph is married and by 1850 he Susannah had at least ten children. By 1860, in the St Johns Berkeley Parish, Charleston District, SC, some of the children had their families started. There was a Gabriel or George Taylor that married an Elizabeth Jackson? and they had five girls. One of the girls married a PATE. Next I found Frederick J Taylor had married a Catherine Baylor and they had three boys and one girl. # 1 Lewis Christopher Taylor married a Martha J Cady----GA # 2 John Wesley Taylor married Sarah Annie Murray-----SC # 3 Isabel Janie Taylor married Seaborn Isaac Williams--SC # 4 James Frederick Taylor married Daisy L Rourke--SC--FL By Feb 1852, Joseph and Susannah is dead. Burial site is unknown. Frederick died on the way home from the war. Co.D, 4th SC Cav.. Some of the other childrens names were Mary, Linda, Benjamin A, Allen P, Erin W, James and Henry. Looking for any information on any of the families. I have information on Gabriel and Frederick's families. Any information will be appreciated. Thanks, Murray Taylor--SC
