    2. Glenda Schneider
    3. Hi, I saw your posting about your Taylor ancestors and I am wondering if you can match any of the Taylor family I have listed below? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Hope to hear from you, Glenda Schneider I have been given info suggesting William TAYLOR and Hannah HANDSOME were married Apr. 15, 1792, Blacktoft, Yorkshire. Their children were: Elizabeth b: 1794 William b: 1796 m: Mary Catherine Wright Abiah b: 1798 George b: 1799 Harper b: 1800 Ann b: 1802 Hannah b: 1806 Charles b: 1809 m: Jane Stabler John m: Rachel ? I only have info on the three brothers, William, Charles and John Taylor who emigrated to Canada from the Yorkshire area, England around 1832. They were accompanied by William's wife, Catherine WRIGHT along with at least two children, George and Robert. They arrived at Cobourg, Ontario along the north shore of Lake Ontario. Family lore suggests William as a young man in England was a stable-hand for Baron Wright in Yorkshire. The Baron's daughter, Catherine fell in love with William and they were married. The story goes that Catherine was disinherited by her family for marrying so lowly. The Taylors decided to emigrate to Canada to make a new life. William was a labourer all his life and they raised a family of two boys and one girl. It is reported that Catherine Wright Taylor was injured in an accident with a runaway team of horses and a democrate which was being driven by one of her sons. She was thrown out of the democrat, striking her head severely ending with an injury that resulted in her eyes becoming crossed for the rest of her life. She is reported to have been a very upright lady befitting her noble background.

This is what I found: Current Names : Query Record Details Name: Lynwood Village Province/Territory Ontario Feature type Unincorporated area Location Carleton Latitude - Longitude 45° 19' 00" N - 75° 49' 00" W NTS Map 031G05 CGNDB Unique Identifier FCCHY All the terms on the left are explained on the website. The maps are rather aggravating in that they are copies of standard road maps, which do not include sub-secondary roads. Carleton County has been engulfed by the amalgamated Regional Corporation of Ottawa-Carleton, which contains much rural, undeveloped, and farm land, as well as typical city and town development. There are places named Linwood in southwestern Ontario and in eastern Nova Scotia near Cape Breton, but neither of these is close to Quebec province, and none to Quebec City. It could be within the borders of the United States as it existed in 1812, at the time of publication. I would start with the location of the paper and work in a circle considering the limitations of circulation of a newspaper at that time. There may well be a similar website for American geographical data. For other help in following your ancestors' paths through Canada, check my website "Sources for Genealogical Research in Canada": http://www3.sympatico.ca/bkinnon/cangenealogy.htm Linda

    1. DR. STEPHEN TAYLOR 1795 -1864 (1830 Sullivan Co TN-d.1864 Meigs Co TN)
    2. Gerene Lord
    3. Anyone have connections to the following families?? Please contact me. Dr.| Stephen TAYLOR 1795-1864 from Sullivan Co TN (War 1812 Sullivan Co TN) was married in Mecklenburg Co NC 1826 to Mary "Polly" HARTGROVE, dau of Benjamin and Jane RANKIN HARTGROVE. He signed documents for the Hartgroves and bought items at the sale of Benjamin HARTGROVE's estate in Meckenburg Co NC. Believe Polly died in Sullivan Co TN (Not sure) but pension records say she died in 1843, Stephen m. Amna/Ann ALLISON buried Meigs Co TN and then he married Sarenah "Cyrene" HALE in McMinn Co TN, dau of Mark HALE and had more children...Cyrene was one of the first of three white women to Washington Territory. 1830-1840 in Sullivan Co TN, 1850-1860 Meigs Co TN, he died 1864 Meigs Co TN and about 1868 his family left TN and went West to TX, AR, OK and Washington State. His children by Polly Hartgrove married in Meigs Co TN to McDaniel, Autry, Sliger, Lillard, STEWART/STUART. I have felt he had to be connected to the TAYLORS in Mecklenburg but have found no proof. What was he doing in Mecklenburg to marry Polly, if he was not connected to someone there. How did he meet her??? The Hartgrove and Rankin Records do not have any additional information on him. My g-grandfather Richard Taylor,1831-1915 m. Mary Ann STEWART/STUART (Mary Ann buried Weeks Cem, Scott Co. AR) living in IT and his half sister living in WA State gave their father's birthplace as NY, however, I think it may have been their grandfather and Stephen could be the son of the Stephen TAYLOR who signed "Petition of the Inhabitants of the Western NC" Dec 1787. Researchers say that Jeremiah Taylor, 2 signatures from Stephen, was from NY. Would appreciate hearing from anyone with information or your thoughts and suggestions Gerene Kinney Lord
