Hi Shelley, I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as Adam HOLM of Delaware, Iowa which was taken at the W.F. Kilborn & Co. Studio in Cedar Rapids, IA. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Adam looking to be in his 30's or 40's at the time. Thanks to the help of the Delaware County Genealogical Society I believe that this is a photograph of the Rev. Adam HOLM b. Dec 1839 in Scotland and d. 31 July 1926 at Britt, IA. Adam HOLM married Anna J. TAYLOR b. Apr 1845 in PA, sometime in 1885 or early 1886. I think that you've just helped me solve a 15 year old mystery. There is a lady, a Hattie L. Kester, buried in the Grandview Cemetery at Fayette, Fayette Co., IA, who listed an Emmett Hill and an Adam Holm as next of kin. These names are listed in the sexton's records of the Grandview cemetery. When I saw your message, it was like someone hit me upside the head with a two by four. Hattie died from consumption (tuberculosis), on 1 March 1889. Hattie never married. Now, Hattie's sister Dora, married Emmett Franklin Hill, and Emmett's parents are also buried at Grandview, but until you posted your message about the photo, I've been trying to figure out who in the sam heck Adam HOLM was. Now I know. Look at the photograph's signature. Hattie's sister Addie married Kingston Palmer Kilbourn. Slightly different spelling, but part of the same clan I'm sure. They were all in that part of Iowa in the 1880's. Hattie's sister Beulah Ann married my grandfather's brother, Edwin Joseph Taylor. Possibly related to Adam Holm's wife. I'm still only ankle deep in my TAYLORs. Too many of them, and extremely difficult to sort out. Thank you for this new avenue of pursuit. I will delve into it with gusto! I'd be thrilled if you would even scan the photo and send me a digitized image of it. Thank you. I am looking for a male Taylor who descends form Bird Taylor who would be willing to have a DNA test performed. Bird and his descendants thru the early 1900's lived in Washington/Smyth Co, VA with short forays into Pike Co, KY. Many still reside in the SW VA area but I have not been able to find a male Taylor. Any help will be appreciated. I have listed below the known male relatives, I'm sure there are more, with estimated birth dates which were obtained from census information. Any help out there????? Burgess "Bird" Taylor, born ca 1800 Sons of Bird: Thomas, born 1839 Alexander, born 1836 Isaac B, born 1846 John R, born 1823 William M, born 1828 Grandsons of Bird: John, born 1868 William, born 1866 James W, born 1870 John A, born 1873 Bryant, born 1879 William A, born 1849 John B, born 1853 Joel, born 1859 Burgess, born 1858 Thomas J, born 1867 Rush F, born 1874 John H, born 1863 Thomas M, born 1857 William K, born 1847 Bird, born 1849 Conley, born 1854 John Henry, born 1856 Joseph, born 1868 Great grandsons of Bird: John W, born 1877 John M, born 1883 Samuel, born 1872 William H, born 1875 John R, born 1885 Victor, born 1875 Steven Alexander, born 1863 Thanks, Ron Dawson Johnson City, TN

Adam HOLM married Anna J. TAYLOR b. Apr 1845 in PA, sometime in 1885 or early 1886. Rev. Adam HOLM was the principal of the Epworth Seminary in 1873 and became the Methodist Church minister in Delhi, IA from 1882-1885. In 1886 the HOLM family was living in Stacyville, IA which appears to be where their first child, Donald Alvord HOLM was born, 8 Nov 1886. The couple also had a daughter, Rachel B. HOLM born about 1892. Anna J. TAYLOR HOLM was visiting her sister Mrs. J.M. HOLBROOK in Manchester, IA in 1886 when it appeared in the local paper. Mrs. J.M. HOLBROOK died 9 Aug 1923 in Council Bluffs, IA noting that she was formally of Manchester, IA. In 1900 the HOLM Family was living in Fairfax, IA including Rev. HOLM's Mother-in-law, Albina SAMBORN. In 1920 Adam & Anna HOLM were living in Redondo, CA with their daughter's family. Rachel's married name was ANDERSON though no spouse was listed in the household. Rachel ANDERSON is listed with three male children, Donald age 5, Calvin age 3, and Francis age 1. I believe that Rachel's son Donald Holm ANDERSON b. 21 Apr 1914, died in Sonora, CA 26 January 2001 at age 86 and that his death was reported in the Modesto Bee on 30 Jan 2001. The second son, Calvin Hamilton ANDERSON b. 1 May 1916 in IA, died 15 May 1993. Calvin's death is listed in San Joaquin Co., CA, however, his place of residence was Columbia, CA. In 1930 Rachel's brother Donald A. HOLM is recorded in the census with his family in Hermosa Beach, CA. Donald's' wife is Gertrude E. WOKURKA b. 22 Feb 1892 and died 18 Jan 1964 in Long Beach, CA. At the time of the census they had two daughters, Marion age 11, and Mary M. noted as adopted with no age shown. Donald died in Los Angeles Co., CA on 30 Apr 1951. I'm hoping to locate someone from this family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to its rightful place with the family. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

Dear Taylor List Firstly I would like to thanks Diane for doing a fantastic job and reading the unreadable. She helped by volunteering with others to read the wills. They are very difficult - anyone wishing to have copies you are more than welcome. (Better than the Times Crossword). For reference I am sending this to the list in order that it shall be in the Taylor List Archive for future generations to use and read and make use of I hope? This concerns the 2 Wills of Robert Taylor and of William Taylor of Heckington, Lincolnshire. 1658. The Taylor's in this area were quite prolific and held much land. I believe these gentlemen to be GGGGGGGGGGF and GGGGGGGGGGGU respectively. I have been helped tremendously through the work or Denise Mell, whom I found is a relative but the line diverges 1812. These wills may prove interesting to various members of the list, and I hope may ring a few bells. They are in part related to the Linwood (America / Canada) Taylors, being the founder family. >>> In the name of God Amen.
