Is there anyone connected with this Taylor line? I can not get past John supposedly his parents are Phillip and Delilah [Jacobs] Taylor. Please see my webpage for info of the family members that descend (my direct line) these family members. http://justmyownway.labdiva.com/taylor.html Laura Taylor John T. Taylor born February 15, 1826 died March 30, 1909 married Catharine Bitzer in 1847. She died June 6, 1884. His parents are Philip Taylor and Delilah Jacobs. In the 1860 Census I found the following: Roll-959 Page 339 Fayette County, Union Township, Washington Court House Post Office, Ohio House 409: John Taylor age 34 Catharine age 36 Jacob age 8 John age 7 Mary E age 5 William A age 4 Babe age 7/12 I surmise that the following family are possibly however, not confirmed relatives of John: House 404: William Taylor age 32 Barbara age 29 Elizabeth age 6 Abigail age 4 John O. age 2 Babe age 1/12 He married at least 2 more times after she died. According to the WPA Index to Marriage Records for Hamilton County Indiana first he married at age 59 to Rebecca Hinshaw age 53 on November 21, 1885 (book 7, p. 318). She died January 24, 1900. He at age 71 then married Mary J. Whelchel on January 22, 1901. (book C-5, p. 8) . Obituary of John T. Taylor, THE HAMILTON COUNTY TIMES, Friday, April 9, 1909, p. 7: Briefly abstracted, John was born in Ohio on February 15, 1826 and died March 30, 1909. He married Catherine Bitzer in 1847. They had seven children, four living and three dead. [No names were listed for any of them.] Served in Company "F", 168th Ohio Regiment National Guards in 1864. Wounded in Cynthiana, KY. Member of G. It is possible that the William Taylor listed in the 1830 Nelson County Census was only 34-40 instead of 80-90. The elder aged male probably being William's father. In 1840 Nelson County Census there is the following William Taylor: 1 male age 40-50 1 female age 30-40 1 male age 10-15 1 female age 5-10 Cheers, Michael Kent Island, Maryland ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, February 10, 2005 12:13 AM Subject: [TAYLOR] William Taylor, 1740-50, VA > > Does anyone know anything about the following William Taylor? > 1830 Nelson Co., VA Census (not listed in 1810 or 1820 Nelson Co.) > William Taylor, (80-90) > 1 male (30-40) > 1 female (20-30) > 1 male (0-5) > Carol > > > ==== TAYLOR Mailing List ==== > Don't forget to change the subject line when the topic changes. > > ============================== > Search the US Census Collection. Probably dozens, if it's anything like the Sheltons. The earliest George Washington Shelton I know of was born in 1796. After that came a passle of Andrew Jackson Sheltons. I have one of each in my line. Gareth North Yorkshire http://history.staveley.org.uk -----Original Message----- From: Doris Augur [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 08 February 2005 21:05 To: [email protected] Subject: [TAYLOR] Taylor Relatives I'm looking for information on Samuel Taylor born November 1844 in England. He married Lillia M. or Lillian M. She was born March 1856. Samuel appears in the 1900 US Census in New Haven, Connecticut. The census states they both became citizens in 1888. Both of his parents were born in England. They were married 25 years in the 1900 census. Samuel and Lillia both lived in New Haven, CT in the 1900 census. She is listed as having 7children 4 of which are living. They only had two children living with them William Robert and Walter. My husband feels that one of the children may be named Nell, as he remembers going with William R to visit Aunt Nell in New London, Connecticut. William R was born January 29, 1889. William R had two children with his first wife Ida May Porter (born 1893 in West Haven, CT and died 1935). The two children were Alice May (born 12/4/1912 and died January 16, 1940) and Ruth. He was married a second time to Elizabeth Eagan. They had two daughters, Joan and Carol. Alice married Clifford Edward Augur, Sr. and had one child Clifford E. Augur, Jr. (my husband). Ruth married Lesley Cowley and had four daughters. Would anyone have any more information on this family. Either there English roots, or the missing children of Samuel.
