She was born on Jan. 28, 1922, in Lansaw, [Landsaw, Wolfe County], Ky., and had lived in Middletown, Ohio since 1957. Irene was a homemaker and a member of the Community Chapel in Middletown. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Childers in 1987; her parents, John and Magdalene Tibbs; a daughter, Elith Mullins in August, 2001; a great-grandson, Xavier; brothers Frank and Albert Tibbs; an infant brother, Herbert H. Tibbs; and sisters Ruby Boyd and Edith Georgia. Mrs. Childers is survived by three sons, William (Charlene) Childers of Somerville, Ohio, Earl (Debbie) Childers of Middletown and Pastor James D.
