    2. Margaret Lee Combs
    3. Hello; I'm Margaret Combs McConnell. With respect to Taulbee, KY, yes, it never was a town, just a P.O. and now there is a general store there. My grandmother was Mary Belle Taulbee Goff, d/o Elsberry & EMily McQuinn Taulbee, gd/Billy Ashford & Mary Ann Birchfield Taulbee. My branch of the family (Mary Belle & Buck Goff) still owns about 250 acres there on Frozen/Negro branch & I've been there to visit the graves of my ggp's. My uncle Vernon GOff & his daughter own most of the land (m siblings & I ahve only 20 acres) but we hope to buy him out (he's in his 90'2 & ready to sell) and build some cabins there. Theold homestead was torn down years ago & coal & oil were taken from the farm. It is a lovely place & 2 of my my children hope to retire there one day, though we are far away now, some in KY, some in GA, D.C. and my youngest & I near New Orleans. If anyone has taken photos of the Taulbee graves I'd love to see them as I forgot my camera. On another part of the land are the graves of Billy Ashford & Mary Ann (Polly) but I've not seen them. The regular cemetary is on the left of the road as you go, the creek on the right of the little road. The King family still lives thereabouts & are not too friendly. They use our cemetary as though it were their own, I understand and graze their goats on our land--no problem unless my brother takes them for wild goats & shoots one. There're wild turkey, deer, etc and a tobacco base and corn. I tell my family that if we ever have to worry about terrorism, we can go live on the farm as there is no way anyone would find us there! My gp's moved to Jackson after they married--they met on the farm--and my mom, Levisa Mae, grew up there. I always loved visiting the little town in the 40's. My uncles still live there. Love to all my cousins, Maggie TAULBEE-D-request@rootsweb.com wrote: > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > >TAULBEE-D Digest Volume 04 : Issue 99 > >Today's Topics: > #1 Re: [TAULBEE-L] william P #5 [tpeter4120@comcast.net] > #2 Re: [TAULBEE-L] John, Mary Jane, a [Louise Gaskill <pgaskill@juno.com>] > #3 Re: [TAULBEE-L] John, Mary Jane, a [Norma Adams <njadams@cinci.rr.com>] > >Administrivia: >To unsubscribe from TAULBEE-D, send a message to > > TAULBEE-D-request@rootsweb.com > >that contains in the body of the message the command > > unsubscribe > >and no other text.
