Carole, I went to Ancestry.com and found this marriage: Name: WILLIAM COCKERHAM Spouse: SEBASTIAN, GILLY ANN Marriage Date: 27 Apr 1870 County: Morgan State: KY I don't know what to think of this one, it is the same date that the marriage for Nancy Gilliann Sebastian & Leander C. Elam has??? and this one Name: LEANDER C. ELAM Spouse: TAULBEE, NANCY G. Marriage Date: 19 Sep 1875 County: Morgan State: KY Ancestry says this about the Morgan Co., KY database: Morgan County was formed in 1823 and was organized from Floyd and Bath Counties. The records in this database cover the years 1851 through 1899. Original data: Morgan County, Kentucky Marriages, 1851-99. County court records located at West Liberty, Kentucky. Family History Library film # (0839918) Then I nosied around in Family Trees and LDS and found that there were 2 Leander C. Elams in Morgan County. One was the son of Jeremiah "Squire" Elam & Elizabeth Nickell, and that Leander C., b. Jul 20, 1850, md Martha Nickell on May 8, 1874 Morgan Co. The other Leander C., b. 1857, I think this one is ours, was the son of Joshua Elam and Nancy Keeton, this one md Nancy G. or C. Why was Nancy a Taulbee in the marriages and Rose has her as a Sebastian and the 1880 census gives Leander's wife as Catherine? Not Nancy or Nancy Gilliann? Then Joyce says there was a Nancy Gilliann, I don't know if it was a C. or G. I copied my marriages from the East Kentuckian many years ago and one of us may have made the mistake for C and G.
