The KY Explorer came today and on page 61, there is a photo of the Elza and Cathern Centers family. I thought that was odd that we have been talking about this family. Here is what it says under: Mattie Stacy, c/o Pinecrest Nursing Center, Room #100, 463 Pike Street, Morrow, Ohio 45152, shares this photo with our readers. She writes, "When I was eight years old, my family and I lived in Wolfe County, KY. There were eight of us in the family at the time. My older sister, Cora was married and had a baby girl, Christine. Her husband, Rawleigh Taulbee, died soon after returning from military service. Cora came to live with my parents, Elza and Cathern Centers. Cora died about three years later. Christine grew up with us and seemed more like a sister than a niece and married Orbin Rudd. Dora married Hager Taulbee, Liza married Jim Hoskins. Kelly married Mable Turner. Carl married Vanita Byrd, Russell married Jewell Smith, I married Vernie Haddix and had five children; Verneda, Herchel, Vivian, Mary and Joyce. (Joyce died of Cancer age 49). After Vernie's death in 1963, I married James Stacy. He passed away in 1980. I remember the first time I saw an automobile. We were sitting in our one room school, when we heard something outside. We all got up and went to the widow to see what it was. We were so excited, but our teacher wasn't as excited as we were. When Monday morning came he lined up the whole class for a paddling. My brother, Kelly and I though he would not paddle us, because he was dating our sister, Dora, at the time, but we were paddled right along with the rest. I hope that someone will remember this incident. The name of our school was Wolf Pen or Wolfpen. Grades one through eight were in all the same room. The photo was taken around 1923 at See Holbrook's home on Shootin' Fork in Wolfe County. I would love to hear from anyone who might remember my parents, brothers and sisters. Carole

Alton Taulbee was discovered mortally wounded, lying beside the road near his home by a neighbor who heard his cries for assistance. He died within minutes after he was found. One suspect has been jailed for questioning, an officer said this week. Officials said death resulted from two .22 caliber bullet wounds, one above the right eye, the other in the back of the head. Jackson Times 1973 Mrs. Lena Taulbee Fugate, 71 of Van Cleve passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lex. Aug. 11. She had been taken there a few days earlier suffering with a coronary attack. Yes, they did and before Louise hits me with this. Breck's brother Grant did marry Martha Taulbee d/o Silas. I was just looking at the 1900 printed census and I think there is a problem with it also. Oh, how I hate looking in that 1900 census on line.
