Now they are really proud of their 67 populaton numbers. <G> It is west of Middletown. As far as I know she only had one daughter who died in 1911. Did Elmer live in Jacksonburg, Florida??? And why was she buried in the Woodside Cemetery in Middletown, Ohio. Minerva did have nieces and nephews living in Ohio, but she also had siblings in Wolfe. Who was Harry Childers? I'm having trouble listing the 14 children of Johnny B. and Nancy. 3. Hi Cousins, I've been keeping tabs on the discussion about blindness in some of the male Taulbees. Due to some kind of glitch we have been unable to answer or post on any of our sites. It appears Linda may have gottten it corrected. My line is William Barry, James Madison, Joseph E. and Ora Mae, my Grandmother. To my knowledge the problem isn't in my line. This is the first I'd heard of it. 1. [TAULBEE-L] Blindness in Taulbee family lines
    2. Louise Gaskill
    3. Hi cousins, Thank you Pam, for the Marion Dewitt census information. Here is what I have, so far, regarding the Taulbee lines and blindness. I am well aware that there are many causes for blindness, however, it has been documented that Retinitis Pigmentosa runs in at least one line. Without knowing exactly what caused the people below to be blind, I am still going to list them, it is up to the descendents of these lines to research the causes, because it seems that my line, William Ashford Taulbee, was lucky enough to not be affected by this. Samuel Taulbee & Rebecca Birchfield's is the only line that I have found blindness in, and all are the Indiana, Illinois family lines. I have also noticed a pattern, of a sort, that it is the later children of Samuel & Rebecca that seems to be affected, while the earlier children were not. Their son Ira is the exception, I have found, so far, no blindness in his line. Did Samuel have a previous marriage? Another thing, the census question "Deaf, Dumb or Blind" stopped in 1880 and wasn't asked again until the 1910 census, then stopped asking again, but maybe they will start asking again in the 1940 census. So it is very hard to research this through census records past 1880. Samuel Taulbee & Rebecca Birchfield: Children Jonathan enlisted in War of 1812, found nothing more Zephaniah A. Thomas Have found no blindness within this family so far B. Wm. A. Have found no blindness within this family so far C. John Have found no blindness within this family so far D. Mary Rose Taulbee states that both Mary and her dau Cynthia were blind in 1860, however the 1860 census image has nothing recorded regarding blindness in the assigned column, maybe Rose got that information "word of mouth" from a descendant. Mary's son Marion Dewitt was recorded as blind in the 1880 Boone Co., IN census E. Ira Have found no blindness within this family so far. F. Hiram Hiram is recorded as blind in both the 1870 & 1880 Boone Co., IN census G. Samuel I think that Samuel might have been blind in 1840. In the Hendricks Co., IN, census, the household of Rebecca Tolby, it says that there was 1 blind person in the household , and in 1850 he was recorded as blind. He was living with his son Aaron in 1870 and recorded as blind, and in 1880, Samuel was no longer in the household and Aaron was recorded as blind. Aaron was married to a woman much older, and had no children. H. Silas Silas was recorded as blind in the 1870 census, I have not found his son Dandridge in any census, but Rose says that Dandridge had a son, Dandridge, Jr. that I have as blind, does anyone know where I got that information [SMILE]. Rose says that Silas's son, Silas, Jr. was also blind by the time that they moved from Indiana to Kansas. one more boy?
