I sent this yesterday and I guess it went to Never Never Land, our service was messed up for a couple of days. I wanted those who get the Ky Explorer to not miss the following. On page 86 of this months Kentucky Explorer, our own Bill Taulbee of PA sent in a letter and picture of his family the Luther M. Taulbee family. Nice picture. Hey Bill are you #4? Did you have my mother or grandmother for one of your teachers? Another question was the Holt Hotel on the other side of the bridge from the old Bus Station and was it also the Allen Hotel at one time? We visited the John B. Childrers and Nancy Taulbee family a few weeks ago. On page 105 are pictures and an article of the Hershel Lee Moore family. Lee was the son of Velmer Moore and Myrtle Curtis. Velmer the son of Robert Moore and Nancy Jane Childers. Carole

Robert Amburgey died in a furnace accident at the Mill where he worked per a letter sent to the list back in 1998 by Robert George when he was visiting his family in Washington state. Warning, the letter is graphic! From: (Robert George while on vacation in Washington State) Date: Wed, 24 Jun 1998 17:52:28 -0700 Subject: Taulbee-Bailey-Amburgey Note: Emily, Catherine, and Louisa Bailey are daughters of Gabriel Bailey and Paulina Taulbee. Paulina is the daughter of Jefferson Davis Taulbee and Alice Temperance Hill. Delora is the daughter of Emily and my maternal grandmother. Sedor wolley [Washington], Route 3 Feb 4, 1939 Dear Cousin Delora: On Feb 1st at 3:30 in the morning, 1939, our father and husband, Robert Paris Amburgey passed away. He was night firing at Skagit Mill, Lyman, temporarily as his engineer job wasn't open, because the lumber mill was shut down. Only the shingle mill operates, but uses the water tube boiler in the lumber mill for steam. Somehow or other while he and the nite watchman were fixing the fuel shute, he fell thru the furace (sic!) opening in the floor to his death. The nite watchman had his back to dad when this happened, but heard his yell when he fell thru, attracting his attention. Due to the intense heat, his clothing burst into flames instantly and mercifully dad only lived a short instant. The watchman called for help turning water hose into [the] furnace at same time. The locomotive fireman sleeping on the boiler near rushed to his aid, but all they could do was keep water in furnace and save something to bury. The body was burned beyond recognition but was still intact. We could not & would not see it. He was burried Friday, Feb. 3rd at 2 P.P., 1939 in Union Cemetery Sedro-Wolley. The body was packed in cotton wrapped in a sheet and sealed in a metal container which was put in a casket of after the lining was removed. This was a terrible shock to us and has broken us all up. There was a big funeral at Lemley's Mortuary at Sedro with lots of very pretty wreathes, sprays and plants. Most everyone seemed so kind and understanding and this helped so much. It will be lonesome for a while, especially to mother. Dad left mother fairly well fixed with two insurance policies, $650 and $1000. She also has the ranch. Everything was willed to her years ago. The state allowed $150 for funeral, we pay the balance which amounts to about $150. The state will also give her $250 in cash shortly and $47.50 per month till next May when Ernest is 16. Then she will get $35.00/month until she dies. We yet have to write his brothers and sisters back East. We did not notify you or them before because nothing could be done or you could not see him and it was expensive for any one to come to far. We could not get hold of Lester for the funeral either. Aunt Catherine, Mary, Margaret, Little Catherine {Catherine's children] were here and helpful. Will close now hoping you write to mother soon. Yours Very Truely, Elbert, [Robert's son] Aunt Lou [Robert's wife] Frannie [Elbert's wife] Bob [Another son or Robert and Louisa] and Ernest [A third son] Louise On Wed, 28 Jan 2004 22:05:33 -0500 "Carole Bays" <acbays@mrtc.com> writes: > Anyone know about the Robert Amburgey and Lula Bailey family. Hello Grethel Jones, I would like to know more about the James and Hannah Burton Taulbee. He was born about 1828 Son of James and Elizabeth Hayes Taulbee. All the rest of the family moved to Devils Creek. I know the names of the original family. Some of them married Liettrels but that is where I lost them. Thanks for any help on this family. I know some of the family is buried in the cemetaries we talked about. Carole -----Original Message----- From: gipsylee [mailto:gipsylee@core.com] Sent: Saturday, January 24, 2004 12:21 AM To: TAULBEE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [TAULBEE-L] TAULBEE-L)Taulbee- Childers Now you are talking about my family so I figured that I better join in. The Jonas M. - Ella Jane Swango TAulbee had 5 deaths in the fall of 1918 to the flu. There was grandma Ella, Aunt Rosa and her baby Geneva, aunt Debbie (she was about 8)&Aunt Alice Lawson Taulbee. She was uncle Sams wife. They are all buried at Taulbee-Burton cemetary. The family lived in the big white house at the foot of the hill and where the road turns to go to Bloody Creek. Aunt Rosa and Sherly Childers only had the one child. Sherly Childers then married aunt Lillie, sister of Rosa. They lived at Campton for years. They had Olive and Paul. I haven't heard of them since we had a family reunion at uncle Jim and aunt Virgie in 1943. Does anyone know more about them? They divorced and Sherly came to Mich. around South Lyons in the 40's I beleive. Does anyone know who Sherlys parents were? Aunt Lillie married a Bailey and lived in Lexington. She worked as a nurse in Eastern State Hospital . She was killed by a train while trying to rescue her dog. This was in 56-57. Nancy TAulbee that married John B. Childers was a sister to my grandfather Jonas Taulbee. they lived on Bloody Creek. Jonas lived at Mary. Minerva childers was a midwife. She was present at my birth, but we had complications. I ended up with three doctors. Mary Neeley married Kernie Shull @ 1934. He was murdered on Bloody Creek on his way home one nite. They had no children. Kernie was a cousin on mine. I had come to Mich in 1942, and kindly lost track of some cousins. But we always attended most of the parties at Jim Nobles' so I was able to keep up on the important family news. I still visit Mary. Yes Edgar died in Mich. I think they had 3 children. Enough for tonite. Family history is my weakness . I am working on the Olivers, Burtons, and some others.
