    3. Does anyone have Tates in their family who would have been in the area of NE Alabama, NW Georgia or SE Tennessee in the 1830's to 1850. My Great Grandmother was Louisa K. Tate. Family information has her born in Tennessee 8/22/1829 and married to William Smith Jones 1/24/1847. She was from the South Pittsburg area of Marion Co. Tennessee at the time of their marriage. They moved to Dade Co Georgia prior to 1850, where they lived the rest of their lives. Family tradition has it that her mother may have been a full-bloodied Indian. She had at least one sister, possibly named Rachel who traveled with she and my Great Grandfather to Nashville in late 1864 where my Grandfather was born in December 1864. Ron Jones

Possibly this ties up with my Aaron TATE (1788-1862) line; he had a daughter Eliza Louise TATE, b. ca. 1830, and lived the last part of his life in DeKalb Co., AL, where he's also buried. His other daughters are Mary, Susanna, Sarah A., and Elizabeth F. Before coming to Alabama, he'd been in the Grassy Cove community of (then) Warren Co. TN. I'm not certain at this time whether Aaron had any brothers who came to Alabama with him and might have had a daughter named Louisa K., but it isn't outside possibility at all.
