    3. I know this is not the Robert Tate you are speaking of, but found this obit and I feel that we tend to overlook the new England Tates. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ TATE A 4-page Portland, Maine newpaper dated May 14, 1822; PORTLAND GAZETTE which contains the following item: DIED At Westbrook on the 3d of April last, Mrs. Martha Tate, widow of the late Capt. Robert Tate, aged 71 years. - She was much endeared to her family, as a very tender and affectionate parent; and to her acquaintance, generally, as a social, sober, benevolent and discreet lady; whose example we hope will do good, though she is no more; and whose death we trust was the death of the righteous. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ This came from the following URL: http://www.genbay.com/index.htm -----Original Message----- From: David Stewart <dstewart@sioux-lookout.lakeheadu.ca> To: TATE-L@rootsweb.com <TATE-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Monday, July 31, 2000 5:22 PM Subject: [TATE-L] John Tait 1744 >I agree that it's not likely to be the father of Robert and John born in >Augusta County.
