Looking for my gg-grandfather Mitchell Beverly Tate, who was a horse-trader in NC in the early 1850s. m. Amelia Gwyn of Surry Co. NC and moved to Chilhowie, Smyth Co. VA. where he came to own a great deal of land. The family called him "the Major" - he died in 1892 in Chilhowie. I have nary a clue as to his family. Any leads would be appreciated. Anne Lieberman
