    3. My grandmother was Amanda Jane Tate Byers daughter of Lemuel and Sarah Twibell Tate born 1880 in Hartford City, Blackford Co, IN. My mother was born in Huntington Co, IN. Lemuel was born in Virginia, fought in the Civil War and married 4 times (Sarah Twibell was the last of 4 wives). Lemuel's grandfather William Tate supposedly came from Germany. His father was James Milton Tate born in NC. Any connections? Diana Roderick trinity@trinity3.com

    3. I have a Julia Florance Tate who was married to a John William Roberts. She was born Dec 23 1823 Married Apr 2 1843 or 1845 - found records with both years - think it was transcriped wrong - Died Feb 23 1865 - all supposedly in New Albany, Floyd Co., IN. He was a riverboat captain and died in Little Rock, Ark. They are both buried near his parents in New Albany, In. I have yet to find any verification of her birth or her parents. I was told that she was raised by a family with the last name of Peck, but still haven't located them either. They had 8 children - one of which was Moses Isaac Roberts who is my ancestor - he married in Galena, LaPorte Co., Ind and died in Jan 1895 in Williams, Ind he was born Nov 11 1852 and was the 4th child. I have guessed connecting Julia Florance Tate to an unknown Tate and a mother with the maiden name of Lapping. There were some Tates based out of Virginia went through Ky and into In and I have found wills and references to their male children and some of the female children by name - most of the females are just noted as daughters. Please let me know if you run into her name referenced any place. Thank you, Claire Abel

    3. Shirley, I have Martha P. Hicks being born in Beersheba Springs Warren Co TN on the same date that you have. My info came from "Tate Families of the South", Vol II, by Ethel Updike & Laura Mentzel. You should find a copy in the Hamilton Co Library in Chattanooga. Both Martha & John Jackson are buried in Armfield Cemetery, Grundy Co TN (I have observed their tombstones there). I have America Serena Dutton as being born in TN (1880 Grundy Co TN census) and in AL (1900 Census), so I don't KNOW which is correct. I also have John Dutton as Serena' Dad. I did not have siblings. I don't have anything on the Cheek family that you mention. Good luck, Bill Ansley At 05:00 PM 06/13/2000 -0500, you wrote: > >I am trying to find the following individuals. She named two of her sons Marvin MELROSE Hosking and Elmer TATE Hosking. I believe those names are from her mother's family. Does this ring a bell with anyone? Oh, Please!!!! 3. I am looking for the parents and family of Mary Ann NEIL, b. 31 August 1850 in Ireland. She married Wm. Henry HOSKING before 1868 in Lackawanna or Luzerne county, Pennsylvania. Two of her sons were named Marvin MELROSE Hosking and Elmer TATE Hosking. Her death certificate states that her father was born in Scotland and her mother in Holland. I'm assuming that MELROSE and TATE are Mary Ann's mother's names. They do not occur, to my knowledge, in the Hosking line. Family stories have her living in Plains, Pennsylvania at the time of her marriage. Does any of this sound familiar to any one? Oh, Please? Thanks - Dot Hosking Huntley in wet (of course) sw Oregon

    3. Consumption is tuberculosis. The cemeteries near Cumby, Texas can be found using the US Geological Survey's GNIS website at http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html Leave the feature name blank, choose Texas as the State, Cemetery as the Feature Type, and enter Cumby as the Topographic Map Name, then hit the Send Query button. There are about 3 cemeteries there. If you remove the Cumby from the map name blank and put Hopkins in the county blank, you'll find about 25 cemeteries in the county. 1. [TATE-L] Louisa K. Tate
    2. Ann Blomquist
    3. I saw the reply to the query about Louisa K. Tate who married William Smith Jones in 1847. I do not think that she is related to the Aaron Tate family at all. His daughter Elizabeth Tate married John Lakeway, and his daughter Eliza Jane married William B. Little. In 1850, there were 5 Tate heads of household in the DeKalb Co AL census (plus one John Tate age 18). In 1860, there were 6 Tate heads of household. Louisa Tate was born c1829 and her siblings were all younger than she was. Her mother Elizabeth was listed in Dade Co GA in 1840, and that doesn't fit with the Aaron Tate family. Looking at the brothers of Aaron, only John had a daughter born as late as 1830. Ann Blomquist Orlando, FL
