    1. [TATE-L] Information on Bridgeton Memorial Park
    2. BRIDGETON MEMORIAL PARK Bridgeton, Missouri 1843 -------- 1963 This burying ground at 4616 Long Road was made into a memorial park in 1962. In 1959 several lawsuits were filed against the City for allowing the cemetery to deteriorate. Individual stones had already been removed "through error and misunderstanding" but members of the Bridgeton Historical Commission were able to learn the names of some who were buried there and a large monument was erected in 1963 which bears this inscription, "We honor the people buried here. They were part of this nations adventure and their vision lighted the path we follow today." At the dedication ceremonies, Mrs. Anna Wilson gave a talk about colored veterans who are buried here. Records indicate that the cemetery was integrated from its beginning in 1858. It was in use as late as 1954 and at least 100 people are buried in the two acres. On the bronze plaque of the monument are the following names: Annie Adams Auston Edwards Enoch Mumps Edward Walker Benjamin Adams Auston Edwards, Jr. Elio Phillips Kit Walker George Adams Grace Edwards Eliza Phillips Lizzie Walker Lottie Adams Katie Edwards Ike Phillips Quiller Walker Ben Alexander The Galliger Family Tilly Phillips Tommy Walker George Alexander Almiria Grannison Walter Phillips Barbara White Henry Alexander Creed Hall Bell Pruitt John White Lucy Alexander Creed Hall, Jr. The Pueroa Family Noah White Eugene Allen Hillard Hall Fred Riddle Shibina White Arthur Bassett Hiram Hall James Robertson Alice Wilson Dr. William Berry Jack Haggerty Will Rush Ernest Wilson Febie Bivens The Heidron Children Baron Scott Geroge Wilson George Bivens Lizzie Hodge Louise Scott Theodore Woodson Lizzie Bivens Steve Hodge Lydia Scott Baby Woolfolk Millie Bivens The Horn Family Laura Smith Hadley Woolfolk Rafe Bivens Nasrus Jackson Roberta Stanton Gibson Wright Samuel Bivens Amy Johnson Lewis Stevenson Hiram Wright Cosley Black George Johnson Fred Steward Mamie Wright Edward Black Julia Johnson Henry Stocker Green Young Hiram Black Robert Johnson Joseph Taylor Mary Ann Young King Black Turner Johnson Abe Thompson Skip Young Sam Balck Mr. Knight Henry Thompson Bell Carter Henry Lewis Hiram Thompson Lilly Cheeks Hal Lint Jenny Thompson Henry Clanton Luvenia Lint Mamie Tucker Fred Dickson The McClure Family Barney Vonsray Joe Duglas, Jr. Jessie Moore Texas Hall Wadlington This list was given to me by The Missouri Historical Society P.O. 3. I found the following as a reply to an inquiry after a little searching. Les Tate ---------------- To obtain a copy of the original social security application of an ancestor, write: Freedom of Information Office, 4-H-8 Annex Bldg., 6401 Security Blvd., Baltimore MD 21235 Request a copy of the SS-5 form. It includes great info like birthplace, mother's maiden name, etc. The person must be deceased and you should include the date of death to prove this. The cost is $7 with a social security number (from the soc. sec. death index) and $16 without. If you don't have the number, give as much info as you can to help narrow the search through similar names. Allow months for an answer. [Another reply to the original inquiry indicated that the wait time was about 6 months due to the backlog of requests.] ----------------------- Lloyd Neilsen wrote: > Help please. does anyone know if the cost for getting a copy of a social > security application if you do not know the number is still $16? any > idea of what the turn around time is? also can't find where I was to get > this info on the Net. does anyone have the url? thanks for any help you > can give me!! > > Lee in Eastern Utah > lloydi@ubtanet.com > > ==== TATE Mailing List ==== > Forgot how to "unsub"...simply send a message to: > TATE-L-request@rootsweb.com > In BODY section of message, type: unsubscribe > Be sure to disable any "signature" lines, etc. > Then, hit your SEND button. 1. [TATE-L] From Dr. Johnsons Harrison Notes Part II
    2. And these TATE's ? Can anyone add to this as to where these TATE's went ? Did any go to Tx. ? TATES, p 371. I have previously written about Tates because they are closely connected to some of the Davises of Newberry SC and Buncombe NC. 1610/11 Fraunces Tate Esq. and Lewis Tate were on the list of the third charter of the Virginia Company of London. 1635 Thomas Tate, 22, came to VA on "The Globe of London". 1635 James Tate age 17 went to Barbados in the "Ann and Elizabeth". 1768/9 John Tate, St. Andrew's Parish census Barbados had 16 acres and 5 negroes 1685 Robert Tate shipped from Bridgewater Prison to VA for his part in the Monmouth Rebellion. 1705 Capt Mathew Tate requested by Gov. Nicholson to wait for and strengthen the convoy of HMS Stranbolo. 1735 Barnaby Tate witness to Surry Co. VA will of Thomas Browne with wife Mary. 1700 Maryland, Talbot Co., Jane Tate a legatee and witness to the will of Elizabeth Oakley. Jane Tate was probably her married name and maiden name of Webb. ... following is a long list of Maryland Tates, Talbot and Baltimore County. Also, Annapolis and Queen Ame's Co., ... then back to VA records: Totes of Hanover County and Louisa Co. related but those of Augusta Co. VA have not been connected to them. Tates of Augusta Co. VA tell of John Tate b 1722 in Ireland to Bedford Springs, PA and m Mary Doak 1743. They had; Thomas, James, Eleanor, John and William Tate. There are records of many other Tates in Loudon and Lunenburg Counties VA. Dr. Willis Tate, President of Southern Methodist University, wrote in 1966 that his parents were born in Brooklyn NY and moved to Colorado and Texas and that he knew of no relationship to Dean William Tate of the University of GA .... Interestingly.. my sister - in - law, now deceased, as I recall many years ago called on President Willis Tate as a relative. My brother does not remember the visit and we have no idea as to how related 13. Harrisons but it does not matter since he apparently did not know much about his Tate ancestry. He was a very well known figure in Texas and Methodist politics. The Tates connected to the Davises of Newberry SC and Buncombe NC had earlier been in Lincoln Co. NC and before that in Frederick County, MD but I do not know has they are connected to any of the above. This completes my review of GORDON KINSHIP, though there is much I did not cover. This makes a valuable reference book which would be considerably more valuable if it had an index Rebecca Tate1899Shells@webtv.net

    1. [TATE-L] Fort Boonesborough
    2. The building of Fort Boonesborough began about the 20th of April, 1775, and on the authority of a letter from Colonel John Floyd, it is claimed that the fort was completed in the latter part of July, 1776. Many of the pioneers listed here were at the fort during the construction. Some came and stayed only a short while and then returned to their native lands. Others were killed by the Indians or died from illness. Not all of these pioneers lived actually within the fort as there were only thirty cabins in the fort proper, but all lived within the general area of the fort. In 1789, there were 120 houses located in and around the fort." (Tudor) Listed were; Robert TATE Samuel TATE Samuel TATE Jr. Rebecca Tate1899Shells@webtv.net

I've been told that he was on the chain gang in Nashville and escaped around 1940. He had a sister that had a fortune telling business in East Nashville around 1935-40... Any connections???
