Bob, So very rare to see mention of Tates of Pennsylvania...on this list and even on entire internet. My husband descends from the Pennsylvania Tates. Who do you have as wife of Mary Heller? Take Care, Judy Tate As the clock ticks at home, it ticks nowhere else. ----- Original Message ----- From: Bob Hewitt <ranhewitt@webtv.net> To: <TATE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, December 03, 2000 10:23 AM Subject: [TATE-L] TATE, Mary M.; McKeesport, Pa. Am looking for any information on Lucy TATE ... I have very little information on her, but I believe she married Benjamin UNDERWOOD on 16 Sept 1824 in Jefferson County, Indiana. She probably died before 1850, as she's not listed in the census, however her husband Benjamin and son George Washington UNDERWOOD are listed in the Jennings County, IN census for 1850. According to the 1880 census for George, his mother was born in Kentucky. I realize this is very little to go on, but I'd love to hear from anyone with more information! Marti asksuddarth@juno.com

Fred, Do you have any information on this C.C. Tate's family? I am still trying to document a Julia Florance Tate born 1823 in New Albany, Ind and married a River Boat Capt - John William Roberts. Thank you, Claire Abel
In looking at "Confederate Burials in Crown Hill Cemetery, Marion County, IN," published by the Genealogical Society of Marion County (www.rootsweb.com/~ingsmc), I ran across a listing for Pvt. C. C. Tate, TN Co. K, 59th Infantry, who died Dec. 2, 1863. He would have been a prisoner in Camp Morton in Indianapolis. Fred Engelking
Does anybody know anything about Ann Tate who had a son Henry Tate born 13 Oct 1846 in Hackney Workhouse London England, no father on birth certificate, but on his marriage certificate it has his father listed as George Tate, Labourer.
Just a note for those who haven't tried this site.--this seems to be only Valley Forge soldiers. S.D. is the abbreviation of the Latin <salutem dicit> which has more to do with greeting or farewell- with the conotation of naming or calling by name - , but has become, loosely, <said> in our current English usage. I think a URL Roll Call is a neat idea but PLEASE include some names, date ranges and places along with the URL so we can quickly determine if there is some probability of finding useful information there. There just aren't enough hours in the day to visit every URL that contains TATE surnames. My TATE line is from Virginia, specifically from Caroline and Powhattan Counties. It daughtered out with Frances Lee 'Fanny Lee' TATE who married John Millard SAUNDERS in 1884 and who died on 2 Jan 1927 in Norfolk, VA. My URL immediately follows my list of surnames in my sig block below. -- Happy Hunting!! -- Paul Houston, TX, USA ICQ #73314929 Researching: VA - WHITE,LIPSCOMB,HILL,JOHNSON,SAUNDERS, TALBOT,TATE,EVANS NC - SMITH, BOSWELL, RHODES, CAPEHART,MORRIS, MARSHE, BRITT,SHAW View my American Ancestry at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~paulrsmith ***** Which would you rather have: a JOB (Just Over Broke) or a YOB (Your Own Business)?
